No condendsation pan, an exhaust hose on the back and it's temperature controlled.

1. My brother bought one of those because where he lives (off
Sunset) in LA isn't the best place to hang a window air condition (stolen=2 so far) and it works really well.

I have one (a Whirlpool) in the doggie suite and it works well, but mine has a pan and I have to empty it once a week or so if I run it a lot. That is to say, in Florida during May IS quite a lot. What model did you get?

I think it evaporates the condensation somehow and blows it out the window.

5. Yeah, mine does that in theory.
I think that the humidity is such here that it can't evaporate it all. Sounds like you made a good choice!

6. I see them for about $299.
Is that about the price range of what you bought?

8. We have three of those.
Two in the attic (my office and BoyMidlo's bedroom) and one in Mr. Midlo's office (which is over the garage and gets all the afternoon sun. They work FANTASTICALLY well. My office is often cold enough to keep food cold.

9. I'm very happy with mine
I can't use a window model in my house and the portable unit works well. I rarely need A/C anyway but when I do, I now have it.

10. I'm awaiting my stimulus package in order to get a new C/A system
I suffered through last summer, but this summer, the change is upon me and I am not going to suffer again. I've been saving since last summer for a new one, which should cost about $1500.

11. I have one upstairs in my loft.
I have a large loft, the portable ac works just fine. I use a fan sometimes during the day but I at night the ac keeps everything nice and cool.
