Age of consent chart.
ok, here is the chart listing age of consent world wide. Someone please explain to me what the fuck is up with Australia.

http://www.ageofconsent.com/ageofconsent.htm

M/F sex is 16, F/F sex is 16, but M/M sex is 18? Does this make sense to anyone?

Also, if the so called "Gay Agenda" includes lowering the AoC what do the right-wingers think they want to lower it to? Christ it's already 14 in some states.

the same thing as in many states, at one point all M/M sex was illegal, and after it was legalized the default age of consent 18 was established as they didn't bother to establish another age.

as for the gay agenda question, some morons are unable to differentiate 99% of homosexuals from NAMBLA

2. Just curious...
How can the age of consent--whatever one thinks it should be--reasonably differ from the age at which an individual is required to be tried as an adult in criminal court?

You can be drafted into the military even if you are not old enough to drink alcohol legally.

6. YOU can
:P
It differs: in Germany the consent age is identical with the minimum age to be tried as a minor. A child(<14) can't be tried.

Alcohol goes the same way : (at 14 with parent's concession; at 16 in limited ammounts; 18)

8. great to hear
:hi:
In some fields we have achieved a pretty open society .

BTW:
A beer habit is becoming expensive in Germany as well (we are approaching 1€/Bottle). That's not as expensive as buying imported beer, but nonetheless...

9. Got im Himel!
You live in Germany man! Why in the hell would you buy an inferior, I mean imported, beer? I might even be able to do w/o Guninness if I could go back to living in Germany. well, maybe not. Guninness on teh Isles was pretty damn good. The bottled export is crap in comparison.

4. Australia is surprisingly small minded....
I'm in Oz at the moment, and despite the reputation the country has for being relaxed, laid back and open minded, you'd be amazed at the sexism, racism and homophobia shown openly in society.

Howard, the PM, is a complete asshole - the rules on refugees are an insult to humanity and only the other day he announced that gay marriages would never be legal in Australia because homosexuality doensn't prolong and increase the human race........

OK, there are lots of very, very gay-friendly areas in the major East-coast cities, but Australia overall (and certainly the West coast) is still a nation run by rough, tough "men of the land"...I love it here, but the attitudes are often 20 or 30 years behind the UK (which still has its fair share of problems and bigotry).

And remember that's it not so long ago that the UK had an AoC of 21 for male-male relations, then it got dropped to 18 and finally gained equality with heterosexual AoC at 16.

P.

5. I guess the part that confuses me most is...
...the disparity in age between F/F and M/M AoC. I undersand why there is a difference in the reaction of most people between the two, but one would think the law would shoot for a bit more sanity.
