Credit card machine out of paper so the transaction wouldn't go through. I don't have cash. They told me to stop back in tomorrow and I can pay for my groceries then.

Small town living. Sometimes it ain't all bad. :)

8. Not great.
Not especially horrible, but definitely not great. I've been struggling with feeling like ass for a loooooooooooong time without many good days in the mix. SO - next week I'm going to really throw myself for a loop. Off to the rhuematologist (1.5 hour drive each way) to discuss my "borderline positive" lupus test. That's Monday. Early Tuesday morning I'm leaving for a 4.5 hour drive to the Idaho border - with 2 dogs, one that gets carsick, and 2 cats so I can meet with the people at WSU that are going to perform the .....gulp...$3000 surgery on Bodhi's knee. I have to be over there for a few days for the surgery and I have one cat that is on a special diet and requires sub-q fluids at least once per day and has to be closely monitored, and the second cat has to have 2 insulin injections per day. I can't afford to board them and it's too much care for someone to stop by once a day, so I have to take them on the road trip with me!! Do you feel sorry for me yet?

Anyway - Driving long distances kicks my ASS and severely - I am not looking forward to next week for a multitude of reasons - starting with the number 3000! Oy.

I am VERY happy for YOU though! :D :D

22. Ouch on the drives...
I'm leaving Sunday for Wisconsin (8 hour drive). On the 11th, I'm driving back to OH after work (7 1/2) hours to meet the movers on Thursday. On Friday, Lelapin and I drive both cars (with two cats) to Chicago. She's staying there Friday night and I'm going on to Milwaukee to spend the night in a motel with the cats. The movers come a noon on Saturday to unload and I go back to work on Monday probably barely able to walk. (I have fibro too...)

I fell today for no apparent reason. The 17" monitor I was carrying to the car went flying and I hit my knees on the gravel drive. Second fall like that in a week. Can't wait til I have insurance again. That, and the tremors in my left hand have me worried.

I'll be thinking of you. Take whatever you can to help the pain (I use ibuprofin and tylenol at the same time.)

23. I feel for you too!
Moving is a NIGHTMARE for me, and the last move I went through was a mere 2 miles down the road. I thought that would kill me. I can't imagine trying to maneuver your kind of move right now. That falling thing is scary ... I can't wait until you have insurance either!

I grit my teeth through the pain with no drugs until bedtime - then I take narcs when I absolutely without a doubt CAN NOT stand another moment. I'm really used to doing that I guess. The worst is the overwhelming fatigue. I often find when out (on long-ish trips) that suddenly I feel as if someone unplugged me. I can literally feel all of the energy draining from my body and my brain turns into something that feels like a concrete block inside my head. FUN!!

The above is why I'm on this coconut oil kick - I'm hoping to see some natural, non-Rx improvement. It's supposed to be amazing for people like us - and many others.

24. Let me know how it works for you
I don't take any narcotics. I'm allergic to most of them and Vicoden can make me stay awake for days. So I use the ibuprofin/tylenol mix. Unfortunately, when I broke my arm last year, the ibuprofin gave me a bad stomach ulcer.

We keep going because we're stubborn and we have no choice.

25. I will definitely let you know.
The one thing I can say so far is that my face feels MUCH better. I grease myself up at night before bed and there is a remarkable difference. My skin's been freaking out lately - red blotchy itchy rashy - which if the lupus diagnosis holds makes sense! Anyway - if for nothing else the oil is fabulous for the skin and hair. Jury's still out on anything internal.

It's the animals. I'd be afraid to go to sleep at night now if they didn't get coconut oil. They're kinda.... wild ANIMALS when it comes to getting a glimpse of the coconut oil tub. :scared:

16. LOL - no kidding.
I started something though when I started giving it to the 3 cats and 2 dogs. They want it a LOT. I wasn't all the way out, but I will be in a few days.

4. Wow, and I thought I got a good deal at the grocery store today!
My total was $87, but I saved $47 w/ my club card. :woohoo:

For some reason, there was a LOT of buy one, get one free today.

But they never would have let me pay for it tomorrow. ;)

12. I've gotten cigarrettes without paying before too.
Of course now I *knocks wood* don't smoke any more, but I didn't get back to pay them for the cigarettes for a couple of weeks. NO WORRIES they said - and they'd forgotten about me when I showed back up to pay!

You got a far better deal (well, except for the fact that I left without paying) on your groceries than I did on mine though!

18. I'm still bend-over-backwards THRILLED they opened one here.
I really hope they do well - and I intend on buying as many groceries there as possible. It's directly on my way home from work and I don't have to drive out of my way to go to Safeway so much anymore. I'm hoping it will make me start buying in smaller quantities, thereby cutting my food waste considerably.

The owners are long time locals, which is nice.

6. Something similar once happened to me at a small, local grocery store
I came up about three bucks short, so they told me that I could owe them.

I was so utterly stunned that I didn't even know how to react, so I knocked over a candybar display, peed on the floor, and ran out screaming.

Actually, no. I was stunned, because it's not as though I shopped there every day. I was just some anonymous cheapskate in a college town, but they still gave me the benefit of the doubt.

As soon as I got home, I scooped up three bucks' worth of change and walked the mile back to the store to repay them.

Some people actually restore a bit of my faith in humanity.

13. a similar thing happened to me today. We decided to put a land line phone in
and bundle it with DSL broadband

we stopped by the store to get the skinny and when we decided to put in the order, the lady gave us the modem and told us she'd call us in a couple hours after she checked our credit and set the install appointment to let us know if we needed to bring her a deposit
