Anyone reserved hotels through Travelocity, or AARP (which uses
Travelocity?)

We traveled to LA two weeks ago, and the prices of a small Holiday Inn Express, where we stay every year, really went up.

I am pretty certain that I had two pages open on my monitor: one of the hotel itself and the other of AARP/Travelocity.

When we checked out I did get a final statement, even though it was paid a month earlier when we first made the reservation. I was astonished to find a difference of $100!!

I wonder whether the hotel pays Travelocity $100 less than what it would charge us directly, or what Travelocity charged us.

We then stayed at a cheaper hotel in Orange County and there, too was a difference, a smaller one of $30.

Is this how these companies make their money?
