2. it might...
I washed MrG's cellphone several times and it worked.

That's what I love about you LaraMN...lighter mishaps, washing machine troubles... I don't feel so very alone now. :toast:

3. No worries. Just go smash it into the side of the garage a few times
then blame Mr. LaraMN for it.

9. Too late. I already blamed SophieMN.
It was in with a load of her clothes, therefore I deduce that it was her fault.

4. I worked with a guy who dropped his pager in the toilet,
while he was using it. Yuk. It clogged the toilet, and he had to pull the toilet out to get the pager.

It was dead!!

I peed on my scarf at school once.
It wasn't even my fault; there were no hangers in the stall!

7. Take the battery out, right away
THen take it apart as much as you can. Dry it off with towels and clean it up with alcohol if you have it. Let it dry out, it still might work. I once dropped a cordless phone a bathtub and after it dried out, it worked for years.

13. Duly noted!
I had already opened it up and pulled out the battery, but I'll try the alcohol too.
Thanks!

8. One time my son's cell phone dialed us up from inside the washing machine.
Honest! It re-dialed the last number called and we could hear the washer running!

10. Who knows?
If you can take it apart, remove the battery, rinse with water, and let it dry for a week, it might actually work.

That's what I do when I spill stuff into my keyboard (you'd think I'd learn, but nooooo).

Unless you really wanted to get a new phone.

With electronics, it's vital you don't "turn it on to make sure" as this can completely screw everything up.

Pull the battery out and put the phone in a container with some king of moisture-absorbing material. Kitty litter works great if you have some.
Close the container and put it away for at least 24 hours. (The longer the better). After at least a day or two, if you can wait that long, you can put the battery in and try it.

I did the above procedure with my iPod when it took a plunge in some water (water was inside the case) and it still works)

There's no guarantee that this will work, but I had a friend who washed his phone in a similar fashion. He left it in the laundry room as a reminder (which also had a dehumidifier in it). A few months later, I was there and idly picked it up and pressed the power button: it turned on and worked just fine.

12. Take the battery out and let the phone dry for a few days.
Sometimes, if you drop electronics into water, they'll still work, as long as you don't try to turn them on when they're still wet. Of course, that's usually only after a few seconds of immersion, so you might still find your phone is now just a fancy paperweight.
