Off late I have been really wanting a baby and I can't understand why
Edited on Wed May-28-08 04:53 PM by lionesspriyanka
I have alway hated the thought of something growing in me and to a degree I still do. I think it's a little creepy.

But I really want a little girl so badly.

maybe its cos my cousin had a daughter and I am approaching 30.

So confusing.

I wouldnt actually have a child now because I cant afford it and I want to get a doctoral degree but I really really have been wanting a baby girl.

I'm sure there are lots of kids out there who could use a home when you're ready to provide one.

Anyway - from what I've seen of you here, I think you'd be a great mom and any child that had you in his/her life would be lucky! :)

22. Oh man, I know what you mean.
I want a baby girl sooooo badly...but there's no way we could afford it, there's no "baby daddy" in the picture even if we *could*, and I'm going to be in my 30's by the time I finish school. I'm afraid that by the time we're done with grad school and have good jobs, my easy baby-making days will be gone. :(

23. Offer to babysit
if your cousin lives nearby.

A baby is a lot of work. A lot. If you want to get your doctorate, you are asking to make your life semi-hellacious to try do that and raise a baby. Babies are more portable, as far as all that goes, but sitting up all night when your baby has an
earache and can't lie down, general sleep deprivation, the adjustment to being a parent... those all are all big things.

if you have family members near by, it's probably much better. I never had that, so if you don't, you would need to find a mom group for the mutual support.

I think your initial idea is a good one. Lots of babies need homes, too. and will in the future.

32. I've been thinking about wanting a baby these days too. But it is impossible. I am
single, poor, and have had too much grief in my life. I couldn't guarantee a safe upbringing. Plus I'm 43. So no babies for me. I'll just have to enjoy the ones I see on the bus, at church, etc.

33. I think it is just a natural thing for a lot of women to feel when they
start reaching certain ages. I have that little thing (girl) growing in me right now and I have to say it is the most amazing thing in the world. Feeling a living thing move around and kick inside of you is unbelievable. But anyway, go babysit or something to give you a little kid time.

34. There are things you can do
Volunteer at an orphanage or hospital - babies need lots of attention and people trying to do their job can't always provide it.

You can volunteer at daycare places, they often have more than they can handle.

Or babysit.

Cool that you wanna wait until you've finished your education and can afford a kid. That was my plan.

"I am approaching 30" - that made me laugh. Your biological clock has a long way to go before it goes off, girl.

Khash.

40. You don't have to do it now. Get your doctorate first.
I find that having a child later in life is ideal (although it was my partner who went through the actual "having" of our child). At this age, I've gotten all the wild oats out of my system, and am thoroughly enjoying watching this little person learn and grow and become a loving, wonderful human being.

There's nothing like it really. And I NEVER wanted to have a child before. Now I can't imagine my life without him.

41. It's possible to have babies in grad school...
Not rational, maybe, but possible.

Unfortunately I don't remember exactly how we did it -- sleep deprivation makes you forget such things.

I was at home whenever my wife was at school, and working whenever she was at home.

We had no money. A few times we had to get emergency loans from the school to buy groceries or keep the electricity on.

I remember looking forward to lunch at work because I could take a nap. Sometimes I'd fall asleep in the break room with my head on the table leaving my lunch untouched.

44. I think it has less to do with your age and more to do with
the fact that you are feeling settled in a relationship as well as your studies. So, perhaps you are just looking towards the next stage of your life?

You've got tons of time. My friend Diane had her last child at 44. Perfectly healthy adorable little boy.

There are many children in the world who would love to have a family that loves them. Quite a few GLBT families have adopted girls from China.
