2. Awesome!
I love Dar Williams... all her songs remind me of camp because a lot of them are standard campfire fare at my camp.

I saw her live about 2 and a half years ago... she is an amazing performer.

Have fun!

3. Waaaahhh I'm so jealous!
She's one of my favorite artists. And not just because she wrote a song about wiccans ("Christians and the Pagans") and one about my home region ("Southern California Wants to Be Western New York"). Her lyrics are truly poetic without being draining. She rocks.
:headbang:

ENJOY the concert! Come back and tell us all about it! :hi:

4. I'm really jealous too. I'm a big fan. Here's a you tube link for those who haven't heard her
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Xdk4PujOE

The Christians and the Pagans

Amber called her uncle, said "We're up here for the holiday,
Jane and I were having Solstice, now we need a place to stay."
And her Christ-loving uncle watched his wife hang Mary on a tree,
He watched his son hang candy canes all made with red dye number three.
He told his niece, "It's Christmas Eve, I know our life is not your style,"
She said, "Christmas is like Solstice, and we miss you and it's been awhile,"

So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
And just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said,
Sending hope for peace on earth to all their gods and goddesses.

The food was great, the tree plugged in, the meal had gone without a hitch,
Till Timmy turned to Amber and said, "Is it true that you're a witch?"
His mom jumped up and said, "The pies are burning," and she hit the kitchen,
And it was Jane who spoke, she said, "It's true, your cousin's not a Christian,"
"But we love trees, we love the snow, the friends we have, the world we share,
And you find magic from your God, and we find magic everywhere,"

So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
And where does magic come from? I think magic's in the learning,
'Cause now when Christians sit with Pagans only pumpkin pies are burning.

When Amber tried to do the dishes, her aunt said, "Really, no, don't bother."
Amber's uncle saw how Amber looked like Tim and like her father.
He thought about his brother, how they hadn't spoken in a year,
He thought he'd call him up and say, "It's Christmas and your daughter's here."
He thought of fathers, sons and brothers, saw his own son tug his sleeve, saying,
"Can I be a Pagan?" Dad said, "We'll discuss it when they leave."

So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
Lighting trees in darkness, learning new ways from the old, and
Making sense of history and drawing warmth out of the cold.

5. perfect performer in the perfect setting- solo acoustic-
small stage under a canopy of maples and tall pines. There were fewer than 300 people and everyone cherished every lyric she sang. The Christians and the Pagans was the second to last song and even though we knew the song, Dar's delivery still had us laughing. She ended her set with When I Was a Boy, which was beautiful. Other highlights were The Babysitter's Here, The One Who Knows, Iowa and Spring Street(my fave). There were others I wished she'd done, in fact, I could have easily sat there and listened to her all night, she's one of those artists that just moves me that way.

8. I saw her open a tour with String Cheese Incident.......
And she was awesome. Loved her songs. She had a keyboard player (Julie) that was great too. When the tour played the night before the Oct 21,2002 peace protest in SF, at the Berkely Community theater, Cheese played "Imagine" with Dar and Julie. One of the best musical momets of my life. The bottom Pic is Dar during "Imagine". The top is from Chico the night before.

14. I feel you, my wife had no idea who she was before last night,
I'm slowly educating her. The last two cds she bought for herself were by American idol winners or 2nd placers or something. It's an uphill battle , but we're making progress.

the N.E. Makes it a lot easier to get the un-initiated out to a show.
