Unwritten DU Rules Finally Revealed - Add your own

This puppy is as old as DU and was performed long before I came to DU.

Any Lounger not adding a Dingbat option is liable to be spanked and chastised.


General Order #2: If you come across a California Peggy F-Bomb, you are obligated to draw attention to it.

General Order #3: There must be at least one cat picture thread on the Lounge top page at all times.

General Order #4: Is a secret.

General Order #5: Flirting is MANDATORY

If you don't have a job, then you are a worthless bum, and it's all YOUR FAULT that you're unemployed. You must have a character flaw, or not have enough education--even if you have two or three degrees and plenty of work experience. If you had done everything right, you would have a job. However, if you are disabled, on a government pension, those rules don't apply to you, and you are allowed to attack the bums.


If you are fat, you must be stuffing your face constantly, and have absolutely no willpower. Nobody in GD World has a metabolic disorder, an endocrine disorder, diabetes, etc., etc. All those fat people are just overeaters. It's that simple. All fat people should be on diets, and they should all lose weight on said diets, even though it's been shown that diets don't work because of the starvation reflex (metabolism slowing down in response to lowered calorie intake).



If you drive a car more than 2 miles to your job, you must immediately move to the inner city and buy a $350,000 condo (with what, I'm not sure) so you don't need a car. If you drive a car, and don't move, you must buy a bicycle and ride that to work, whether it's hot and sticky, the traffic is lethal to bicycles and pedestrians, or whatever. You must ride the bus or subway to work, even if it does not exist where you live. The holier-than-thou "my impact on the environment is much less than yours" people are happy to tell you how much energy you can consume. You're also not supposed to use your air conditioning, even if you live in a climate where not using your air conditioning may cause heat exhaustion, heat stroke, or death.



If you are a child of an illegal alien, but you were born here in the US and are a citizen, you should be shipped out of the country in violation of the 14th Amendment so that you can be thrown out with your immigration-law-violating parents, who came here so that they would not starve to death, because Latin American countries have shitty economies with no middle class. Employers are not to be blamed for throwing American citizens out of work and destroying the manufacturing base with cheap imports -- blame it on the powerless immigrants who BTW pay billions into the Social Security fund that will never be distributed to anyone. Employers can pit the formerly working class against the illegal immigrant, to divert blame away from himself.


If you're homeless, it's ALL YOUR FAULT. You must be a drunk or a junkie or have some medical problem. If you'd just get a job your problems would go away. See the first paragraph, above.


Folks, I'm not kidding. The lack of compassion around DU is stunning. You'd think we were all a bunch of Ayn Rand "I've got mine, screw you" disciples, or a bunch of Christians who forgot about "As you did it to the least of them, so also you did it unto Me", and the things Jesus said about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and stuff like that.
