I used to have the best looking house on the block.
Granted, I live in an area of very modest, older homes....but still...my house is impeccable because I enjoy keeping it that way.

So anyway, what does my neighbor do?

He painted his goddamn house, and he FINISHED it. I even helped him, and loaned him my tools.

I figured he would be like everyone else in my neighborhood as follows:

1) Get a bug up his ass to paint his house.
2) Start painting like a madman.
3) Get tired after day one.
4) Throw all his tools down, walk in the house and start drinking beer.
5) Be incredibly hung over the next day and be unable to paint.
6) Lose interest, never pick up a paint brush again, and live with a shitty looking half-painted house.

But Nooooooo, the fucker FINISHED IT.

Now HE has the best looking house on the block.

It is PISSING ME OFF.

He even changed out his shutters to these pretty new ones, and painted his front door to match.

Fucker.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to spend the day drinking cheap beer and smoking out of my second floor window while throwing empty beer cans and cigarette butts into his driveway.

6. I won't show pics of his house to respect his privacy, but here's a few of my little house...
My house is really no big deal....but I do all the work myself.

Before and after of a deck I replaced myself:

Same history to my "craftiness", also. Your skill (or energy) clearly exceed2 mine; hence, no house fotos posted.

let's see! :)

I do it out of necessity....I can't afford to pay some "contractor" to do a worse job than I would do. No one will take the care that you will in remodeling your home...even if you are paying them.

And as far as "skills" and "energy"...it probably takes me 4 times longer to do anything than it would for someone who had any "real" skills.

This may make you feel better....I did these projects probably 2 years ago. Subsequent to that, I've done some electrical work in my basement, but not much else.

So relax, have a beer....it will be there tomorrow. :hi:

24. Ok, I've been there recently....
Try to slow it down a bit if you can.

There are people on here, and in real life, who care about you.

I've been noticing that you have been down lately, and I hope things get better soon.

Don't worry, you'll be alright.

26. No, you were not wrong.
Listen...

You're going through some things.

You MUST express yourself. if something is bothering you, you have to get it off your chest.

You are beating yourself up when you should not be.

We are human. We have our fears, and our hot buttons.

You are no different than anyone else. You are trying to deal with your grief...do NOT feel guilty about any anger you may have.

I promise you...it will be alright. Things are looking magnified to you right now.

30. Bad moments....
get better.

You're human.

Have no guilt, do what you have to do to get through the night, but please do not hurt yourself either by accident or on purpose.

32. I never would....ever....
But I have to tell you, I've felt so bad that I wanted to. Something always stops me, and I instinctively know my limits.

But it really sucks bad sometimes, doesn't it?

My problems from the other night have resolved very well...and the "acuteness" of your problems tonight will get better soon, even though the deeper grief takes time....

34. I've thought often about this....
I have people who depend on me...and I have one person who I am missing terribly tonight.

I would never hurt myself, however, even if I had no one.

I love myself too much, and I have too much to offer...and you have much to offer also.

He's a young man...only late 20's. But he is very very smart, and very driven. He is an engineer....we give each other advice and talk things through when either one of us are not sure how to do something.

If we have a project that we don't know how to do...we will talk to each other and/or read books until we figure it out.

We trade tools back and forth.

Really good neighbor and good friend.

Oh, and matching shutters to doors is SOOOO 90s. The door should be a different color. Repaint. That'll show that fucker.

I've done the basics like replacing toilets, faucets and vanities...but I have never tackled a bath/shower on my own.
