"Sammy Hagar recently started a new "supergroup" with ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith. The band, tentatively called CHICKENFOOT, will enter the studio to begin recording its debut album this summer.

Hagar spoke about the project in a recent interview, explaining, "We've written eight, nine songs...When people hear the music, it's LED ZEPPELIN. It's as good as that. I know that's a mighty bold statement...We could rival ZEP." "

1. A wise move for Satriani because he can't effing sing to save his LIFE.

That doesn't keep him from trying.

Also, his last album got pretty terrible reviews. Maybe the time is ripe for him to collaborate. I don;t know all of the details behind the Michael Anthony thing but it does seem like the VH brothers gave him a royal screwing.

This isn't the first time Hagar has gone the "supergroup" route...the last one produced one album, with nothing memorable, and it definitely didn't keep Jimmy Page and Robert Plant up at night worrying about the competition:
