4. reminds me of my Grade 12 physics class

I went through school in a class with a rather abnormal distribution.

Normally in class you get a distribution of something like:

-one genius
-one complete asshole
-eight people in the middle

...so when you're up to class sizes of 30 you're generally left with

-two-three geniuses sitting the corner plotting something
-two-three assholes throwing stuff around
-25 or so students attempting the material

Instead we had

-eight geniuses on one side of the room recreating the Manhatten Project
-eight assholes on the other side recreating World Wide Wrestling
-eight students cowering in the middle wondering who would kill them first

The physics lab at year-end project time

-eight pieces of crap turned in by the assholes
-eight cute little projects bought from Radio Shack turned in by the regular kids
-a mass spectrometer
-a fully functioning computer built from razor blades, nails and a hella lotta telephone wire (mine)
-something that did something with radar that nobody understood including the guys from the Department of Transport wondering who was messing with their flightpath
