Anybody switched from Comcast to Verizon? Thoughts?
We're looking to combine things to save some money. Right now our cable and internet are with Comcast, and our phone (home and wireless) are with Verizon. I know both companies are evil, but they're the only options in my area. My main interest is Verizon's cable and internet service vs. Comcast's. Thoughts, anybody?

1. Comcast keeps trying to get me to bundle it all but so far i've said no.
The main reason for saying no is that i don't want to rely on one company for communication and when she told me about "the great deal!" which it is for the first year i asked her about year 2 and that's when she clammed up on how much my phone service would cost. Eventually i might switch over when they are willing to tell me what the rate increase will be on the phone service but until then i'm keeping my phone company, for the 8 years i've had them i have no complaints. Comcast kind of sucks imo, maybe i'll just dump them and switch over to another company.

4. We have the Verizon bundle -- all Fiber Optic
We like it, which is good for us, because it's the only cable available on our road.

5. Another question, re: TV
We have a number of TVs in the house...the main watching area, kitchen, guest room, bedroom, office, basement. The main watching area TV is the only one that has a box, since we need it for HD (it's the only HD set in the house). Will I need to get boxes for every TV if I switch to Verizon? This particular point is somewhat unclear, even with my research.

Still interested in more opinions, though.

7. We left Verizon phone and went to Comcast
Had Comcast for cable and broadband and Verizon for the landline. Comcast offered us a two year bundle of $99 a month for cable, broadband and phone. It will cost us about $15 a month more for the digital service we have and the DVR and the unlisted #. Will save me over $75 a month by dropping the landline phone, Verizon. The sales rep told me that at two years when the price is supposed to go up, tell them that Verizon offered us a fantastic deal and we are thinking of switching, and they, Comcast, will keep the price the same. I figure if I'm saving $75 a month for two years, what the heck!

9. My mom switched from Comc-assed to Verizon
But she doesn't like the on-demand movies as much. Says their selection sucks, but I think overall she is pleased. She switched because Comcassed's customer service was HORRENDOUS.

Threaten to leave Comcast and I bet they sweeten the deal for you.

11. You can leave Comcast?
Fuck, I'm jealous.

We can't get any other cable here, I can't get a dish where I live, and the only other internets I can get are shitty DSL.

12. We're thinking of doing the same thing. Verizon offers a Fiber-optic service bundle that looks good
I only hesitate because I can't afford to be without service. I'm actually thinking about keeping Comcast hi-speed internet as a backup, but getting rid of cable and vonage. Then I'd get the Verizon bundle with all three, and if I have no issues after some number of months, would cancel Comcast entirely.

13. I switched from Comcast to Verizon FiOS

bundle (TV, NET, and Phone) and couldn't be happier. The Internet service is faster than the default Comcast service and it's a consistent speed because you don't have to share your bandwidth with everyone else. TV service is good, but there's not as much free stuff On Demand. I think that varies from region to region though.

The existence of Comcast is a horrible atrocity. Any opportunity to cut them down to size should be taken. Maybe they'll eventually get the message.
