help me dissect my really really weird dream from last night
Edited on Thu May-29-08 09:23 PM by Ava
last night i had a dream that was weird, which isn't out of the ordinary. however what is out of the ordinary is that the dream was about prom(something which i loathe and detest).

in said weird dream, a friend of mine who i've kept up with since i left public school to start homeschooling managed to get me into the prom since she was on the prom committee(or whatever it is called). so, i get dressed up in a very simple black dress and go. when i get there, one person commented "this is prom not a funeral." at this prom, when we got there we were all forced to sit down in the lunchroom at the lunchroom tables.. boys on one side of the room and girls on the other. then, the people in charge told all couples to line up and get ready to go where the "real" prom was being held. after that about 3/4 of the people were gone and then they said that we had to find a partner before we could move onto the next prom level(i guess this is super prom 1.0 .. coming soon to playstation ). so, no one does anything as they are all too nervous to find a partner.

after watching this weird and oddly silent lunchroom scene for a few minutes i throw my hands up and say "all right.. i'll go first since everyone else is a chicken" and make the chicken clucking noise that people do when poking fun at others. my friend is still sitting at the girls table with several others who are all too nervous to find a partner. I go over to the boy's tables and at this point i'm pissed off about this weird and freaky prom, so i say "all right.. i didn't get dressed up for nothing, so who's going to be my damn partner" and several of the guys go "ooh ooh ooh" and wave their hands in the air(is my dream trying to tell me i'm an egomaniac?).

i pick out one of them, go to the doors, the people in charge make us take a prom photo, and then give us an address and directions to the "real" prom. so we get out there and the guy i partnered up with insists we go in his car, so we do. turns out he knows all about me and my activism stuff and is a liberal too. he's kind of an oddball and really shy, but we get along great on the ride to the "real" prom... i woke up just before we pulled up to the "real" prom. weird thing is that i know i've seen the guy in my dream before, but not sure where or who he is(maybe someone from a movie?)... like i said.. weird dream - kind of freaked me out

ok.. dissect away!

5. If I had to guess
You have hear from way too many people here on DU that homeschooling is not 'real' and thus such a prom is not, and you find some mysterious person who is not judgmental about it all as comforting and wake up before the 'real' prom because deep down you realize you don't need to be part of the real world as defined by others :)

6. You're conflicted. You want to be appreciated by your peers, but you want to stand out.
Also, you shouldn't eat spicy food before bed. :P

8. This sounds like one of those "why are people so stupid?" dreams.
And, don't ask me. I don't know why. :)

9. I dreamt I was on the field with the A's during the 1988 World Series
only to discover the Coliseum was filled to the top with water, so I had to swim to the surface barely making it and arriving, then gasping for air.

don't try to interpret dreams.

13. It's no use- after nuclear war, nothing will survive but cockroaches, Al Davis and his lawyers.
They will immediately file suit against the roaches.
