Oh boy..! Kittimus's vet experience was a TRIP!
..and also one of the top ten most stressed out days ever!

So I left with K.P. and put him in a box with a towel on the passenger's seat. He cried. Then we started driving to pick up DayDreaminHippie68. He screamed! The I simultaneously realised that I needed to get gas and I had forgotten the stool sample. So i called MrsG (she was not to thrilled with me) and asked her to meet me on my way to the vet.

By now I was running ridiculously late and the kitten was screaming his head off climbing onto me and clinging with his little needle claws on my sunburn. So I got him into the box. Then I called the vet to ask them if it was ok if i was late and they said it would be fine( i guess they don't get a lot of patients). I stopped at the gas station and it took about 20 minutes becaus ethe card reader was messed up.

Eventually I got to DDH68's house, by then I had lost my phone so I searched for that while waiting for him to get in the car. Kittimus Prime was still screaming. So DDH68 got in the car and held the screaming banshee baby and I found my phone. Whhen I got to the place to meet my mom to get the stool sample, she was not happy because it took me forever to get there.

THEN i got on the freeway to get to the vet. This went smooth;y except for the screaming kitten and the man holding him screaming at him to shut up. It all went fine until I got off of the freeway and missed the turn so I had to turn around. Then I ran a stop sign (by accident) and it was all very ridiculous.

Finally we got to the vet and it was all happy happy! Kittimus is healthy but needs some shots next week. also he was a very hot little black cat and scooted himself around the metal examining table. it was cute...

THAT was my day!

1. Oh, I think I can top that one:
Brief overview:
Two years ago, Labor Day weekend, and a big Saturday planned: All three kittehs to the vet for annual checkups and some shots.

So, we get the first two kittehs into carriers when Charlie, the little one, freaks at the last second going into his carrier and bites Mrs. Rat on the hand. Bad. Really bad. I am forced to take kittehs myself to vet's (100 miles away - vet is best friend from college), while Mrs. Rat heads to ER. That's 200 miles of Interstate traveling, Labor Day weekend, with three kittehs. Fun. While Mrs. Rat goes to hospital with serious injuries. Even more fun.

Get back home five hours later, and Mrs. Rat is still waiting in ER (apparently on Labor Day weekend, other area hospitals divert serious cases to our hospital). After another eight hours, we finally leave hospital (stitches, heavy antibiotics, possible hand surgery, the works).

Get back to the house. Mrs. Rat falls asleep on couch immediately. Charlie the Bitey Cat comes in, hops up on her chest, and goes to sleep.

Charlie has been her cat ever since (sleeps on her every night). Strange way to bond, I s'pose, but there you go.

3. you should have done the pillowcase trick. Now you ARE going to buy him a
kitty carrier aren't you? You will need it.

I have two, so I can transport 2 kitties to vet at same time ...I am not insane enough to take all 4 of them at once.

But your tale was pretty funny. Glad it all worked out OK

I went to see Indiana Jones & the Crystal Skull (just got home) and later tonight will be meeting some friends for dinner.

It is nice to actually feel like doing something other than lying around the house

5. DO NOT transport cats without restraining them in the car!
Either a pet carrier or a pillowcase but NEVER allow it to wander in the car. That is the voice of experience. One of my cats was on the way to the vet and he managed to get under the brake pedal. If I had to stop quickly it would have been a question of squishing kitty or hitting whatever I had to stop for. Never again!

7. Absolutely. I held a cat on the way to and from the vet. He peed all over me. Not nearly as
bad as your situation, but still not so nice either.

10. Kitty will scratch your eyes out!
Or pee on ya! Seriously though, you have to restrain them.

11. I had him in a box ...
and I kept my right hand on him most of the time. I usually drive with my left hand and knee! so we were ok...then DayDreaminHippie68 held him the rest of the way...I just didn't have time to run over to my gpa's house and grab his cat carrier,:)

6. About a year ago I took my fatass cat to the vet...
He was nervous and passed gas in the examination room. It smelled SO bad the vet walked over and opened a window. I was VERY embarrassed.

8. My cat likes going to the vet.
I suppose it's because he gets to ride in the car. He loves it.

Well, the day is over. At least you'll get to relax for the rest of the night (hopefully). :)

9. Banshees learn how to shriek from listening to cats in cars
on their way to the vet.

Actually, only one of my current three is a screamer, but he makes up for the relative silence of the other two. He makes my ears bleed. I might rent him to the fire department to use as a fire truck siren, if they don't think he's too loud.

13. Bet you're glad that's over!!
Glad your Kittimus is ok! :hi:

My cat, Bear, will stand on his hind legs while looking out the car window & hyperventilate on the way to the Vet. :-( You should see how freaked out people in passing cars get when they see a huge black cat, mouth open, tongue flicking in and out, showing all his teeth, through the passenger car window!!

I'm surprised he hasn't caused at least one major car wreck by now!

I got her kitty tranquilizers and had her in a car carrier.

the whole way.

the only time she shut up was in the motel room.
