Tell me about your very first date
It will take my mind off the amount of pain I'm in. :(

I mean, your first ever. How old were you? What did you do? Was it fun? Scary? Pathetic?

My first date was when I was 14 and it was with a boy who was the friend of my friend's boyfriend (if you follow that). He asked me to go to the movies (Jaws, if I recall correctly) and then "have dinner."

His parents ran a taxi company so he picked me up in a cab and we went to a matinee. Then we went to his parents house which was a ratty little apartment with a switchboard in the living room to contact the cabs.

They had sent out for KFC (which I had never had - my family didn't eat fast food) and I perched on a chair with a paper plate sort of delicately nibbling at it. His mother thought I was some sort of high-class broad but I was just clueless.

It was very awkward.

2. I was 17, she was 15 or 16
Double date, drive-in movie. All I remember is a whole lotta kissing; I have no idea what the movie was.

My mom had told me to be home by 11 p.m. I was so freakin' jazzed to be going out with a girl that I didn't realize how utterly ridiculous that was.

I got home around 1:30 a.m. Mom angrily greeted me with "Hi, was it worth it?"

You bet your ass it was, mom. :D

4. Two words: Krush Groove
I made the smooth move to put my hand around her shoulder and held it there most of the movie. Near the end, I got a look and realized I had overshot her shoulder and had been holding my hand on her left breast all night.

Back in front of her house, I leaned over to kiss her in the car and accidentally let my foot slip off the brake pedal.

I'm not sure if that's pathetic or funny, but the decision to see Krush Groove certainly classifies it as disaster.

6. I was 16. He, the same age. We were friends for awhile and everyone
thought we should go out. So I asked him to the Sadie Hawkins (remember those?) dance, which was also the SnowBall (snicker). Before that, he took me to the movies. We saw Platoon. He kissed me on the cheek at home and waited for me after class for about 2 weeks after that. End of Story. I was pretty much an Ice Princess.

8. 16... double date because my sister wanted to go out with this other guy...
and so my agreement to go would help, I guess. If it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't have had my first date for another two years at least.

It was beyond horrible. Unpleasant at first, then scary, then criminal & traumatic.

Oh well!

16. I went to my first and last prom, the junior prom.
I think I was thirteen. My date was a junior and he bought us dinner after and we had to gulp it down to get me home on time. He was very sweet and I was so horribly bored that I never went to another mainstream school sponsored social deal again. Basically, I was radicalized by the Junior Prom, which is probably not what the PTA intended! lol
