Finally something to WOOHOO about!
Edited on Fri May-30-08 08:57 PM by RainDog
I sent a resume out yesterday to a nice place to work. I got a call from them today - the person told me they had just filled the position I applied for - however - the person told me to go to their site and apply for another job listed there! If I apply for another listing, I have to go through the whole process again.

But that's good - the person at this place wants me to apply for the other job! I was overqualified for the one I applied for, I knew. The one the person wants me to apply for is much, much more challenging - but also potentially more interesting.

But also somewhat scary for me, esp. since I'm not overflowing with confidence these days.

The institution is located in a great city that I already know somewhat and love a lot.

so... woohoo!

please send some good vibes my way because I REALLY need to find a professional position before too long or I'll be living off of ramen noodles.

eenie, meenie, chili beanie....

4. thanks!
I had to go back and update some work I had done online to show that I know unix and html and xhtml - not that I would be doing that, but it relates to things I would be doing and would need to know best practices, etc... I just hope that person doesn't look too hard at my source code b/c that was something I did w/o pre-style sheet. I'd moved about a fifty or so images for that into a new directory, so I had to go back and change file paths, and the ones that have a little bit of java so that they pop-up into larger images ALL have to be redone.

but at least I have the basic 15pp that show up.

2. My dear RainDog!
Sounds to me as though they've just opened the door, and invited you in!

Good luck and major vibes to you, sweetie!

We want you to eat ramen noodles because you want to....NOT because you have to!

12. and another thing to woohoo about -
I got a call from the animal shelter today. A kitten that I had adopted from the shelter had been picked up by them and they were able to i.d. her by the microchip they had implanted before I took the cat home.

The kitten has been gone for almost a year.

She was really little and got out when someone opened the door. I went door to door and found her hiding under someone's back deck. The two guys who live in that house said they were out on their porch watching the deer (they regularly graze in our yards) when they heard the kitten. In other words, she ran away with the deer.

Then she got out a second time. Sometimes I think my calico opened the door and kicked out the kitten b/c my calico HATED that little cat and was so mad at me for bringing the interloper into the house/family that my calico refused to let me hold her. It took a month after the kitten was gone before the calico decided I was trustworthy again.

I asked the shelter if the kitten (now cat) was feral. I didn't know if she'd become a jungle book kitty or something. But apparently someone adopted her. And never took her to a vet or called the shelter because, when she was missing, I called the shelter, put up signs all over the place, walked all over knocking on doors... I'm just glad she's still alive and someone has been taking care of her.

I'm picking her up again tomorrow. But I thought about it, and if the person who adopted her wants to have her back, it seems like the kitten belongs more to the other person. My son will probably have a different idea.
