2. Wow.
It's almost a year already. That seemed to go by fast.

Take a trip to a place you've never been before. Doesn't have to be extravagant. Or eat at that restaurant you both say you would love to try when you walk or drive by it but have never eaten at it yet.

Do something fun!

Yes, we're thinking of a trip to W. Ma/Southern VT. Fun stuff, like Six Flags, touring Southern Vt, etc. Mellow and fun. :)

I like little one-nighters or two-nighters when you just pick any old odd spot and just explore. I need one of those trips too.

Maybe I'll see you in Southern VT. LOL!

If it helps, I love the mixing bowls and silicone pans I got you, since you said you wanted to learn to bake. :)

I'll run out and get you guys something. But not this week, I'm not-so-solvent at the moment. ;)

Edited on Fri May-30-08 09:46 PM by mokawanis
You have some time, wheels, and cash so there's no telling what kind of trouble you can find. Sounds like you already have tentative plans. Maybe consider a private cabin on a lake or some other secluded spot to be together.

25. Whatever you do
Make sure it is not here posting on DU :)

Take some paper, and write down all the things you have done together and love about each other over the last year. And carry that tradition on each year. Write it down where each cannot see it, and then compare your memories.

And laugh.

You can't take back the good things or the bad things in life, you can however choose which ones to celebrate and remember.

29. A little more if I may (been married 10 years myself to a wonderful woman)
Renew your love each year. Bury the hatchet over past issues.

It is kind of like life here on DU, some people hold grudges (and will after this primary....) forever over the past. People sometimes do and say things which they don't mean in bad times in their lives. There is a point where we forgive and forget, carrying a grudge is like dragging around a mill stone. No one benefits.

Life is like windows, sometimes you need to reboot to get things to work again ;)

FOR FUN that night:
Sit down and plan something neither of you have done before and pledge to do it before your next year elapses. We all get into the new years' resolution thing, well make each anniversary a new year. Sky dive, take a road trip to some where you have never been, etc - something you have to work together on - and use the internet to plan it ;) get that techie part of you out that night. Planning something you both want is fulfilling and can be a blast.

Oh, and tell Sniffa I am not really that bad of a guy. I know he does not like me all that much

33. Well ok. I will take him off ignore then
for your sake ;)

And congrats on one year - I hope the two of you are happy for many more.

Life is too short and has enough shit to throw our way each day for us not to celebrate the good things to the max.

Get drunk off your asses, have some fun, and try not to think about me outside your window with a camera and posting a thread the next day on DU lounge....

32. Um
This isn't really for me to say, I've never been involved in a relationship. lol But sometimes I've found that on a special occasion I've felt a pressure to enjoy whatever I happened to be doing. As such, maybe keep it simple, something you're accustomed to, so you can relax. Although, as I said, it's not really for me to say.

37. Damned if I know. My wife and I BOTH forgot our 1st anniversary.
I was sitting at work one day, when a colleague wished me a happy 1st anniversary.

I froze solid. SHIT!

When I finally worked up the nerve in the afternoon to call my wife and wish her "Happy anniversary", SHE froze.

Later on, we both had a good laugh over it.

I was gonna say to go do the horizonal mambo like a pair of cocaine-fueled bunnies in heat, but maybe you could go drive up Mt. Washington instead. Great view from up there. I think you can see 3 other states and Canada from the top. And they give you that famous bumper sticker, too! :-)
