OMG! There is a car on the sidewalk right in front of my condo!
I'm so glad I live on the second floor...I was hanging out in my condo and I hear this loud "SCREECH, BANG, CRUNCH, BANG!!
I go to my kitchen window and I see one of my neighbors cars hs jumped the curve and is almost onto the walkway into my building. I don't think anybody was hurt but there seems to be some smoke coming out of the car. I bet the people on the first floor were really startled...almost 8 years here and I have never seen anything like this..:wow:

2. No one was hurt..
The police came and got the car off the side walk..THe car went up 2 of the 3 stairs on the walkway...The cars front end is pretty badly damaged and there is a mess on the front walkway..but I'm glad nothing worse happened. That was a scary sound..AND it was right near where MY car is parked...

Me me me. That's all we hear from you.

Do we get a post from the owner of the car? No. All we hear is "my condo" and blah blah blah!

5. Any idea HOW that happened? Was the neighbor drinking?
My guess is you will be safe until he/she gets another car! I hope they don't get a hummer or something large enough to bring the building down!

6. An unrelated question:
But you're a scientist so you're the most insightful person to ask. How big of a faux pas is it for a non-science person to really confuse Richard Dawkins with Richard Feynman (I expressed that it was swoonworthy that she reads Dawkins except I said Feynman because I was wondering if she read Feynman too. I then hit send before I caught it.) in an email?

I suspect I'm being written-off over it. :(

P.S. I hope everybody is okay on your sidewalk.

8. Hmm
Well to be honest I had to look up Feynman again cause I couldn't remember what he studied, but I am a huge fan of Dawkins, so yeah I could understand someone being surprised at your mix up..A physicist with a biologist...thats um a bit of a faux pas but I can't see being written off over it.
As for my front walkway, people are fine..car and pavement..not so good.

10. They're both atheist Richards.
I think in strange ways and what I know about science is almost nil. My reading of both was based in my interest in scientific refutations of deistic explanations of natural phenomena. (They're both noted atheists who are/were harshly critical of religion.)

She's a mathematician.

Oh well, other fish in the sea.

9. I have handcrafted cows on my fridge
From the lady who drove into the side of my house down south. She wasnt hurt but it was difficult to get her to believe it. I consoled her until the law came.

The next day I had a wooden cow family on my porch with a thank you note :P

11. Well if she had actually plowed into the building
I think it would have been a whole lot worse. And considering she almost went into the ONE staicase I can get downstairs with I would be having issues...
I hope never to hear that sound agian though...:scared:

12. Fortunatly...
I was pretty buzzed when it happened to me. I even offered the lady a rum and coke. Looking back, it may have been a bad move. She was smart to decline :D

13. It's shocking when it happens
I had a teenage kid try to park his car up a tree in my front yard many years ago, late at night. Half an hour later the yard was full of cop cars (I called it in).
