I am usually ambivalent on the death penalty
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 06:23 PM by nytemare
But, in this case, I think this disgusting puke does not deserve to breath.

I hope this poor victim is doing ok now. My heart goes out to her.

Warning: The accounts in this article are shocking.

1. It's understandable
that you'd feel that way. Reading the article provokes an emotional response in me too. That monstrous sick fuck certainly deserves harsh punishment, and if the victim were a loved one of mine I'd not only want him dead I'd want to be the one who inflicted the fatal wounds. It also seems likely that he'll commit more mayhem at some point while doing time. I hope they give him life without parole and it's hard to argue against those who feel he should be executed. The saddest thing about cases like these is that nothing will restore what he took from her. We can punish the offender but we can't give full healing to the victim.

2. The ending part of your post
is why I am mostly ambivalent on the death penalty. It will never bring back people who die, or erase suffering that victims have endured. In this case, I just think there are some people who just don't need to be alive, breathing air that good people breath.

John Cooey, the man who sexually abused and buried 9 year-old Jessica Lunsford alive would have to fall in that same category for me.

This must be why I consider myself a moderate liberal. I seem to fall into a lot of gray areas.

My hopes are that he gets life without parole as well. Bless that poor woman.
