I am so sorry and saddened that Tim Russert died suddenly today.
I know there have been numerous posts about it, good and bad. But he was a force to be reckoned with, on both of the political sides.

He was only 58 years old, and very alive and vibrant at that. Way too young to die so suddenly. :-(

1. Still continuous and unending coverage about him this morning.
I am still feeling sorrow for him, and his friends and family.

But frankly, I was a lot more hurt and heartbroken when Johnny Carson died. He was my hero, and a staple in my life for so many years.

2. I didn't like his softball questions to those he
supported (McCain for instance) but to see he died while true agents of evil live is beyond my understanding. Whatever my political disagreements with Mr Russert were, he seemed a genuine guy. One of the Vice Presidents of the company I work for gave me her ticket to go see him speak as part of a speakers series that is sponsored by the local npr station. This was in 2004 and he was primarily talking about his book. He also got on the subject of the war and was all supportive of the president. It took all I had not to heckle from the audience...ALL I HAD, but I showed respect.

He *might* not have been a pug but if he wasn't then he was a VERY conservative Democrat.

3. Yeah, I know. He was a shill for the White House talking points.
And believe me, I had such a hard time understanding why he and other media members followed and even encouraged that drumbeat for war.

If I could see the fraud and utter nonsense about their case for attacking Iraq, I don't understand why the media couldn't. Or perhaps, refused to consider.

4. Because he worked for GE?
I just assume most of what we get from NBC news is GE's point of view.

5. Probably. I truly think most of what we heard at the time was due to orders from higher up.

6. Supposedly he was a journalist not a scribe
If the newspeople want to be in the PR department then they should apply for a job in that department.
