Reminiscing about 60s and 70s music?
I found a great blog featuring music recorded in the 60s and 70s. Some background on the bands and singers who recorded, and there are some really obsolete bands featured--I was a tweener in the mid-60s, so I never heard a lot of these groups, so it's nice to listen to some of these tunes and learn more about some of the ones I never "discovered" because I was listening to The Monkees and Paul Revere and the Raiders. :)

Anyhow, I'm sure most of you with strong ties to that musical era will really enjoy the site. Normally, I don't advertise sites, but this is so cool, I didn't think I should keep it to myself!

2. Thank you
I saved that site in my favorites and will check it out. Looks interesting. I love that stuff. I like discovering new music and I love oldies. Lately, I've been finding some good groups from Europe. I like rock mostly but other stuff also. I just made a playlist on my MP3 player I called Cheesy Hits with stuff like "The Night Chicago Died", "Him, Whatcha Gonna Do About Him", "99 Luftballoons", "Playground in my Mind", "Brand New Rollerskates, "Afternoon Delight", "Sunglasses at Nights", "In a Big Country", "Everybody Wang Chung", etc. I love it.

3. Don't be dissing Paul Revere and the Raiders
Despite the goofy costumes, they were a real old-fashioned ass-kicking garage-rocking band from the pacific northwest. Go have a listen to their 2-disc greatest hits collection, "The Ultimate Ride", for example.

And even the Monkees had some good tunes, too. :D

5. Er, no
I would never dis the Raiders! I was madly in love with Mark Lindsay and always will be. :)

No, I meant that I was too young to really be into more mature music, and even then, I'm sure much of what I listened to from the Raiders went over my head.

As a matter of fact, I was listening to some Raiders' tunes earlier tonight, and happily remember most of the lyrics, even now, 40 years later!

...ev ery once in awhile, when the air, temp., etc., are just right...it's 1973, and I'm back in my bud's '68 Camaro, cruising through Point Defiance State Park, checkin' out the ladies and listening to Stevie Wonder's "You Are The Sunshine of My Life"...good times...

:D
