Coolest. Apartment. EVER. (architect hid puzzles in walls & furninture for family to find)
From Defamer.Com:

In a story from the NY Times that's almost too unbelievable to be true, a married couple of Wall Street investors—quite possibly the coolest eccentric rich parents currently living in America—had their Upper East Side residence custom retrofitted by a brilliant designer to hold more secret compartments, puzzles, games, and hidden treasures than Hogwarts Academy, all to delight their four young children. Beyond that, the apartment "even comes with its own book"— which Everything Is Illuminated author Jonathan Safran Foer was approached to compose (but turned down)—and its own soundtrack.

1. It's nice to see that the rich are finding ways to spend their money.
Although I wonder how many New Yorkers will sleep on the street tonight, go without food, or basic medical care.

2. I thought it was cool
Wish it was my apartment. And being rich doesn't make you evil. My parents are wealthy and indulge themselves insanely - but they give a lot to charity and do a lot of volunteer work. Just recently a friend with very bad MS was going to drive across country to visit her family, they told her no and bought her a plane ticket. Nothing wrong with having fun with your money if you also give back.

Khash.

3. Why do the rich *deserve*, not need, seven years of tax cuts? So they can lavishly entertain their
kids in this manner, while some parents just worry about feeding their kids? Make no sense that these tax cuts are still in place.

5. That is so awesome.
I would have loved that when I was a kid.

You could do this without spending as much as this person did. Creativity and imagination go a long way.

9. “I just didn’t want it to be this cookie-cutter, Upper East Side, Fifth Avenue kind of place.”
I stopped reading.
