Crank up that old Del Fuegos album "The Longest Day" RIGHT FUCKING NOW
Cuz it's like solstice ya know and the sun is up longer than any other day of the year, or something like that.

Besides, it's one of the best fucking albums ever made.

:toast:

I worry about it baby cuz something's wrong and I can't say
I worry about it baby all through the longest day

So I had another beer and wonder to myself
Just why it had to be this, not something else

I worry about it baby cuz something's wrong and I can't say
I worry about it baby all through the longest day

And I know today I miss the sun
And I don't see people, not anyone

Time stands still I wonder why

2. I don't think their record label had a budget for videos
Here's a rather unfortunate thing they did to make money though:

4. The best show of theirs that I never saw was at a nearby bar when I was 17
A dive bar that could squeeze in 200 folks at the max.

Adventurous souls were treated to a set by them and Springsteen joined them for the encore, since he played at the local coliseum earlier.

But since I was only 17 I didn't see it, just heard about it later.

6. I saw them a bunch of times as a teenager

they would occasionally play all-ages shows and colleges in the '80s (before they got famous) and at that time, some clubs that were 18+ and then 21+ were more lax about IDing. This was back in the good old days before they raised the drinking age and eliminated happy hours in Mass.

7. Seriously, why weren't they more famous?
I get that some 'cult bands' are an acquired taste but what was wrong with the Del Fuegos?

Just straight ahead rock and roll.

Wrong place at the wrong time I guess.

Sigh.

8. Dan Zanes is doing quite alright for himself now
as a children's music artist with a definite folksy bent.

11. Nothin' better than their "Boston, Mass." album.
That's some bluesy rock.

12. We'll have to agree to disagree
I've always preferred The Longest Day, just seems a bit more raw and exciting.
