I just realized today that I am officially old.
I realized that all the teenagers going through my checkout stand at work who were buying stuff for graduation parties and getting ready to go off to college in a few months... were still in elementary school the year I graduated.

D'oh.

And 'ma'am'd a few more times than I'd like too, but that's why I grew the beard... :P

the year I graduated, they weren't even a twinkle in their parents' eyes. Hell, their *parents* might've still been in elementary school. If that.

I was on a college campus on Parents' Day and noticed that I was checking out the mothers instead of the students. Now, I'd be checking out the grandmothers.

6. Doing the math, you are somewhere between 25 and 34, depending on which graduation you refer to
So I have an observation and a suggestion.

One, you aren't old.
Two, you can use your perception that you are old in some positive ways:
a) Review and update your plans for saving for retirement - you're so old if might be too late, but maybe not ;)
b) Start getting in shape - you're never too old to start! :D
c) add your own!

I sure wish I was in my twenties!!!!

16. I've been working on B lately
although unfortunately my main form of exercise since I moved here was a winter-type activity, and so all I've had lately is jogging. Which just doesn't cut it for me.

And yeah, I know I'm 'only' 26, but I'm startin' to feel old. Hell, I think I started to feel old the minute I realized a few years back that 'legal' and 'old enough for me to date' were no longer the same thing. :P

When AARP starts sending you recruitment information. I'm 50 years old now and there's no denying it. I got pictures in the mail of an old freind. Gray hair and wrinkles...sigh...there should be a comic strip of Charlie Brown at 50...I'd be interested in that...

23. The definitive 'old' question for my generation: where were you when the President was shot
if you are old enough, you only think of JFK and you know exactly where you were.

So I was in 10th grade, biology class.

only young whippersnappers think you are referring to the wounding of Ronny Raygun

On Friday I was at a college town bar with my son, his gf and a few of their friends celebrating his birthday. I realized as I looked around that not only was I the oldest in the room, I was the oldest by like 25 years. Nobody in that room was even an amorous thought when I graduated - from college!

And normally I don't feel all that old, I don't consider 49 to be ancient or anything, but that realization really got to me.
