Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 01:06 AM by arwalden
I have. I'm on the DO NOT CALL registry.

2. Absolutely.
I can't tell whether it's because I signed up for the do not call list or whether it's because the blood sucking leaches know that I'm broke as a $2 watch and my credit is worthless.

They probably don't want to waste their time on someone who can't keep his gas on.

4. I'm on both the Federal and state no call lists
Mine have dropped to almost nothing.

I did get one asswipe company a $10,000.00 fine for calling my home. I played along just enough to get their number - it was blocked on caller ID - which is required to file a complaint in Kentucky. (I gave them a CC number to get their phone number, but protested the charge ASAP. The joke was on them anyway. They didn't run the card or they would've found out the limit was too low to buy their junk. I keep a low limit card for Internet purchases only.) As soon as I got the number I gave 'em a good, hearty laugh and said, "Gotcha". then I went to the AG's website and filed my complaint.

Sweet!

20. Same here
We're on both lists. As soon as the State one went into effect, most calls stopped immediately. Now, with the introduction of the Federal DNC list, the calls are practically nonexistant.

Now if we could just get people to stop the spam...

6. I'm on the
DO NOT CALL registry and have an unlisted number. Computer generated calls were occasionally coming through before the registry but I've had none since registering.

10. From constant to nothing.
Of course this was a law in Indiana long before the feds did it. Our secretary of state (a Republican) ran on that issue almost exclusively and led the Pubs statewide by a large margin.

And giving credit where it's due, putting the no-call list in effect was one of the very first things he did. It's a very complete law with real teeth and it works like a charm.

I'll vote for him as long as he wants the job. What a novelty, a ReTHUG ewho actually DOES something for "the little guy"....

I went from 10 hang-ups a day on the machine to MAYBE one a month. The only people who call anymore is the Sierra Club, and I'm a member, so they're allowd to.

12. they been thick as flies lately
Either telemarketers or I have a stalker. (I dunno, I never pick up and they seldom leave messages.) I've been forgetting to register, but now I just did. Thanks for the reminder!

then there was silence. Now if I could put my friend on that list, everything would be just fine. :p

14. Joined DNC yesterday
Because I didn't join it in the beginning and the calls to our house increased, I mean every fricking day. MCI was calling us after we ditched their long distance....I got fed up when people were calling me by name and knowing more than I would have told them.

19. MCI will still be able to call you
Under the rules, a business with whom you have a prior relationship can still call, as I understand it.

18. Almost no telemarketers
... call my house. I don't think I even get one a month.

I did get all the political calls around primary time, and I still get calls asking for political contributions, but those were specifically excluded from the Do Not Call registry.

23. It's hard to tell.
We've been hanging on by our fingernails for close to a year, so the phone rings a lot & we don't answer (let's hear it for caller ID). Could be telemarketers, could be collectors. We return the calls to those who've left messages, letting them try to get blood from turnips, but very few leave messages.

24. I've had more...
Lots of tv satellite ads from people trying to peddle them or people from customer service saying they've been trying to get a hold of me because I won their contest (which I never signed up for, cool huh...)

Lots of debt consolidation services too.

25. Not bugginhg me any more
After Do Not Call went into effect, they petered out to one eejit debt outfit. They'd change their name, but continue to give the same number. I reported them everytime. it's been a while, so perhaps they were slapped with a fine.
