In North Jersey, I think it's Italian food (including Pizza) and Bagels.

Ours is more along the lines of salted, then I think boiled, then served with potato, "brewis" (boild hardbread) and "scruncheons" (pan friend bits of back bacon). Unhealthy as hell, but surprisingly delicious.

110. That isn't a good pic.
I LOVE lutefisk with melted butter rolled up in lefse. Parsley potatoes alongside are wonderful. I have absolutely NO idea what that green slop could be. Smushed up peas is what it looks like to me - a foreign food.

Regular green peas and pearl onions in a white sause is more traditional.

INGREDIENTS
2 cups frozen green peas, thawed
2/3 cup water
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon white sugar

DIRECTIONS
In a medium saucepan, combine peas, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then stir in butter.
In a small bowl, whisk together cream, flour, and sugar. Stir mixture into peas. Cook over medium-high heat until thick and bubbly, about 5 minutes.

very good! I added 1 cup of frozen tiny pearl onions and used 1/2 and 1/2 instead of heavy... MORE MORE

82. Yep, the ol' green can
There was always a six in the fridge at our house too. That was the first alcoholic beverage I ever tasted. I was, like, six years old or something, and I thought beer had a really good smell. My dad caught me sniffing the can () and said, "Go ahead--take a sip."

And that was the LAST alcoholic beverage I tasted for 10 more years! :puke:

NCBBQP - North Carolina Barbecued Pork :headbang:

I'm a vegetarian now but I'm still kinda proud :) People who wanna fight say Texas's is better, but to each their own and stuff, they're both great in different ways I guess. Mine comes from a different state than the shitty president though.

(I'm living in VA until I can get back to NC, I don't know what goes on up here.)

103. Fish tacos are GOOD
Take a piece of fish.

Grill it.

Take a bell pepper and some onions.

Grill those.

Heat a couple corn tortillas on the grill.

Stick the fish and the veggies in the tortillas, and cover them with lime and hot sauce.

Enjoy! :9

114. Let's see... I'm from England... so...
... that would make our national dish Curry.

Well... there are English foods:

Fish and Chips is my favourite.
I like Sausages, Beans and Chips.
Cornish Pastys are nice too...
Roast meats, roast potatoes, Yorkshire Puddings and Gravy are pretty English.
Toad in the Hole is English.

Haggis is definitely Scottish. Don't like it.
Fish and Chips is also popular in Scotland. As is pie and roast meats...

Mark.

or male bull ovaries? ;-)

Bovines, or cattle: males = bulls (after castration they become steers) females = cows (heifers until they have their first calves or turn 4 or 5 years old) babies = calves

122. Takeout and frozen ready meals
I'm from Montgomery County, Maryland, where almost everyone seems to be too busy (and too f-ing self-important because they're some acting assistant muckety-muck with the federal government or federal contracting company) to cook decent food or appreciate it.

I never imagined I would miss the glorious Italian food of my native New Jersey so much. Whenever we visit relatives, we get real pizza or go to an authentic New Jersey diner.

I've lived in MoCo for 18 years and have yet to find a decent pizza here.
