I just made a cake that smells AMAZING
It's a chocolate whiskey Bundt cake, made with strong brewed coffee, cocoa, and Jack Daniels. It smells so good that I am climbing the walls waiting to taste it!

I found the recipe at epicurious.com:

http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/CHOCOLATE-WHISKEY-BUNDT-CAKE-232636

It doesn't specifically call for Jack Daniels, but that's what I had on hand. I think I may have gotten a little tipsy licking the spatula after pouring the batter into the cake pan. :D

2. Hmmm, that sounds very interesting
I may have to try that out! Good to use my Bundt pan more than once a year (on Sniffa's Bday, for his favorite marble cake)

:hi:

Let us know how it tastes!

5. I use mine fairly often.
I have a milk chocolate snack cake recipe I cut out of Taste Of Home some years ago that makes a good anytime cake, and on Mr. LIW's birthday, I make rum cake in the Bundt pan.

Today is our annivesary, so I wanted to try something new and special.

My son loves marble cake and usually asks for it for his birthday, but I've never made it in a Bundt pan. Are you willing to share your recipe?

3. Damn, my mouth is watering and I couldn't even try it...
But at least I now know what a springform pan is, and how to use one.

m_a_p made me the most amazing cheesecake last weekend when ahe was here.

My daughter helped make the crust. I helped a little too. :D

7. that sounds INCREDIBLE! And I love love love to bake....
but have been trying to ease up in respect of my and my husband's waistlines.... :D I think I might have to break the self-imposed ban for this, though. Hey - I'm coming to Boise sometime in September, maybe I'll try to make it for my family then...

Let us know how it tastes! And thanks for the link to the recipe! :hi:

14. family lives there --
I have been a bad, bad daughter and haven't been there for 2.5 years (my elderly mom is there as well as a sister/brother in law and nieces)...

I might be consumed with family events - I'm only there for 2-3 days, but if I can get away for a cup of coffee, I'd love to meet up. Once I know my plans I'll send you my number...

9. That sounds really good. I am getting ready to make a coffeecake for
Sunday School class tomorrow.

I am either going to make a Hawaiian one with pineapple or an apple cinnamon one. I have to go buy milk for the apple one, which I could do while the butter is getting soft.

I am going to bookmark that recipe though.

16. yeah, I am making that one. I have some apples that have to be used, and this
is a big coffeecake. I have a full container of half and half, so will water it down a bit to get the milk, and use plain yogurt instead of sour cream thus saving a trip to the store in pouring rain .

10. That sounds delicious
On our wedding cake, we had Irish Whisky butter cream frosting. It was tres good. Our baker said she just kept adding whisky until it tasted good.

that my eyes rolled back in my head just reading about it!

The kids have had their supper and are in the bath. After they go to bed, it's date time! I did sneak a taste of the cake. It's wonderful.

17. If you like whiskey, I have two words for you:
Bourbon syrup.

I found the recipe in one of my cookbooks and used it to top the cake. I cannot even describe how good it was. I think it would be a fantastic topping for waffles and fruit -

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 tablespoons bourbon

In a saucepan, bring sugar and water to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Boil five minutes. Reduce heat and add butter, vanilla, and bourbon. Cook and stir over low heat until of syrupy consistency.
