How much is the yearly tuition of the school of your child's choice?

Anyone who already has children in college, and/or college students, are more than welcome to answer!

In-state school (Oregon State University) and it cost me about 2-grand a term (translates into roughly 6 grand a year plus books)

3. College is expensive.
The thing to remember is tuition is only one piece of it. My freshman year I payed so much for dorms and food.. also booze.

Most college websites have a tuition guideline on them.

6. No doubt about that!
I forgot to add room & board!

I have been researching on CollegeBoard.com.

4. Move to Texas and have your child go to an in - state public college
They are still pretty reasonable, relatively speaking. I wind up paying about 8K/semester for tuition, room & board, books & meals.

My son goes to an out of state college (University of Alabama), where I assume it would be a lot more expensive. Fortunately, his costs are covered by scholarships.

9. Good to know...
I am a Northerner, though! I am one of the few who actually likes the weather!

I am hoping the scholarships will be enough to not make demmispawn indebted for life!

11. I am actually a northerner as well....
Have been living temporarily in Texas for 21 years. The college is still reasonable, and the smoked brisket is to die for!

Good luck on the scholarship front.

10. Ohio State
$17-20k/year for room, board, books, tuition and fees (includes full medical since I'm uninsured).

I paid $400/semester for tuition at Memphis State in 1978.

If her father's parents weren't helping, she wouldn't be in school.

12. NYU-about $50,000/year
luckily the school gave a decent aid package and my family is fortunate enough to have the money to cover the rest.

15. My middle son is a junior in HS
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 11:53 AM by Marrah_G
He wants to go to WPI for Aerospace Engineering.

2008-2009 Tuition & Fees

Tuition and Fees $36,390

Room & Board $10,880*

Estimated Books & Personal Expenses $2,200

Total $49,470

But he is trying for either the Airforce or Naval ROTC programs so we will only be left with room and board. (expensive enough) Student loans and money my parents have been putting away for him might make that obtainable.

16. California's state college systems are cheap.
Full time at junior colleges is less than $600/yr, and that gets waived for low income people. The CSU system is under $7,000/yr, and the UC system is a hair more.

Not sure what it costs to live on campus, because around here nobody does.

18. Please don't discount
the liberal arts colleges. Yes, tuition is high (in excess of $30k), but financial aid packages are exceedingly generous, so fees typically equate to what you would pay at a state school.

19. Huh?
Our state schools run about $30,000. I am not sure what you mean. All schools have a liberal arts program!

Please, enlighten me!
