This is highly important.
I would *prefer* it not kill the grass.

Ideas?

We won't have snow for at least a couple more weeks.
Geez.

3. My way involves a whole team of sled dogs
and a ton of training. But does nothing for the "not kill the grass" aspect.

8. Also, I have a fear of being trampled by sled dogs.
Well, I didn't five minutes ago, but now that I'm thinking about it, I believe I do.

11. That would kill the grass.
Also, I would get in trouble for purchasing more "landscaping items". You could probably encircle Hudson Bay with all the edging I bought last summer.

9. iirc, slip n slides used to come in yellow
if you can get your hands on one of those, you can just paint lines on it to resemble bricks

beyond that, i have no idea

10. Paint it on cheap sheets, then stake them down.
Or a few yards of muslin from the fabric store, if you don't need it to be that wide. That stuff's only a buck a yard, so it wouldn't cost too much.

14. My solution for everything seems to be "spray paint the lawn."
Grass dead? Spray paint the lawn! Not enough room on the driveway for SuperUltraMegaEpic hopscotch? Spray paint the lawn!
I've restrained myself thus far, figuring it would both kill the grass and poison the soil, but I'm sooo tempted!

16. If you can't resist the impulse
Get a sprayer like you'd use for lawn chemicals and a bottle of yellow tempera, then water it down until it will spray. Since it's water soluble, you should be able to hose most of it off afterward, the rest will be gone with the next mow, and it's non-toxic.

That's how I'd do it anyhow.

13. When I was in the high school band
We made a yellow brick road for our halftime show (we played 'Over the Rainbow' as the finale)

We got a long piece of yellow cloth and used black spray-paint to paint a brick pattern on it.

I worked, though it looks better if you lay it out straight.

19. Go to one of those Dollar Stores...
and buy some of those plastic party tablecloths (in yellow, of course). You could then use markers to draw bricks on them, cut them into the size you need, and then stake them into the ground. That would be a cheap solution. I'm assuming you are using this for a party or something. It wouldn't look totally great, but would serve the purpose.
