The target audience was 12 year olds.

I remember when that series ran. The dialogue and the message, however, were very sophisticated.

I'll have the producers know that I read The Uncanny X-Men #137 at the tender age of 11, and I bear few lingering scars from the implied inter-species and inter-planetary naughtiness!


Incidentally, when the third X-Men film came out, many critics praised Kelsey Grammer for his performance, some going so far as to declare "only Grammer could say 'Oh my stars and garters.'"

Maybe it's true that few others could deliver that line onscreen, but Hank himself said it in #137 and likely earlier, so it's long been a part of the Beast's zany character!

I honestly believe that the X-Men series in the 90s spoke of equal rights for ALL Americans. It was not nuanced.

8. That series was better than all three movies put together

It's a damn shame they won't bother to give it a proper DVD release. Maybe if we bitch enough they'll do it, like what happened with Batman the Animated Series.

10. I liked the one that was on Fox Kids a few years back...

That was fun, watching them as they grew up instead of all of them as grown-ups.
