1. Okay
1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.

Yes, run a rescue for them as a matter of fact. Dog person.

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?

Hard rock. I had a Kiss lunchbox when I was very young, and I've loved AC/DC since I was 11.

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?

The gym is my only "hangout" and I go almost every day.

4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.

My first love, as in true love? She was a black on black 1980 Corvette. I built her into a real monster on the street. I sold her when I went to college.

5) How do you feel about adoption.

Adoption is a fantastic option for folks. Both for people and pets. :P

2. Here are my answers:
1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.

I have 2 cats and 1 dog. I think I am more of a dog person, but I adore my cats so much too, and I have one that needs so much TLC that I am glad to give.

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?

Oh, hell. I am so old I'd make a nuisance of myself. The first record I ever bought was a 45 called "Hey Carrie Ann"

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?

I have a favorite hangout at a "ladies bar". I only go once a week, on Sunday. When it is slow and quiet. More behind that, but I got sick of the constant drama, thus I choose my one night out carefully.

4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.

My first love was the love of my life. But, she had an explosive anger disorder, and bi-polar problem. She did great when she agreed to treatment and took her meds. Once she decided she was not going to take treatment or her meds anymore, I knew she, and we, were doomed.

I just KNEW that meant she'd beat the crap outta me again. And she did. I sent her packin that night. But it still hurts, ya know?

5) How do you feel about adoption.

Oh, for fuck sakes?? How could ANYONE be against adoption?

3. Children are human pets.
1.) Ironically...not really. No. Pets are for people who have time for them. Also, I'm dog-phobic. Like really dog-phobic. I have a self-sufficient cat who prefers to drink from the toilet and hates human contact or petting. So...she's more like a roommate I feed from a tupperware bowl on the floor. She really likes leftovers and I'm almost ashamed to admit this...Wendy's hamburger patties.

2.) Punk. I didn't listen to music often in my youth though. It interfered with my reading time.

3.) Work. I spend most of my time at Starbucks.

4.) I was foolish, it ended badly. She lied and said she wasn't ready...then she married someone else. I hope she's happy. I'm thrilled that I'm not married to her.

5.) It's a great option for people who can't have biological children. I wouldn't but I'd also never have bio-kids...given an either/or option...I'd adopt.

7. Not for lack of effort...she has a water bowl she shuns.
She only drinks from the toilet or the drip from the bathtub spigot. I've changed bowls, I've tried placing it in different places, I changed it like 5 times a day so it'd be cold, I even tried enhancing it with chicken stock so it'd taste better.

She likes the toilet better.

8. Now, c'mon. You can't let her drink from the toilet.
I have one "problem child" cat that is quirky.

He won't drink from a bowl of water either. But he sits at the faucet in the biffy, and begs till one of us turns on a stream of water for him to drink.

Toilet lid is ALWAYS down in this house.

I don't know what else to say. And frankly, why I should even have to mention it.

Why do you drink out of my toilet?

Dog: Why do you pee in my water bowl?

24. LOL! Yeah, I know the drill. They all tried that "this is my water bowl" shit with me.
Fucking GROSS and disgusting, and I put a stop to that crap real quick. It is a MAJOR LAW in my house now that the toilet lid is closed at all times.

Geeze, animals can be so gross sometimes. It's a good thing I love them so much.

4. Hmmm...
1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.
Of course. My family has a 5 month old puppy, a shar-pei mix named Torpedo that they got at the local SPCA in MD back in June. This cute little wrinkly puppy (not so little now!) has made himself quite at home. He was a little scared at first, but then we showed him the backyard, lol, and he felt much more at home then. He'll do the most hilarious things sometimes; like when we give him a treat, he has to play with it first, every now and then he'll run around the house with it until he finds the perfect spot to eat it. When he gets into something he knows he shouldn't, he'll take off around the house ("Can't catch me! Can't catch me! Lookie what I got!") until we catch him.

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?
Eh...I guess technically I'm still in my youth (26). I listen to a little of everything: Beethoven, Cage, Celine Dion, Kamelot, Pyrates Royale, Nightwish, Epica, Seether, Loreena McKennitt, etc. Mostly rock/metal, but some variety.

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?
Downtown Annapolis. Not as often as I would like, especially being 5 hours away at grad school.

4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.
Hahaha...my first boyfriend asked me out last year while I was at work (bookstore). And yes, we're still dating. I still can't believe, and apparently neither can my co-workers ("Did he really ask you out at work???"). lol...

5) How do you feel about adoption.
I think I'd prefer it to traditional methods of having a family. If I decide I want kids, that is. There are already so many people on this planet, so why should I contribute to that? Especially when there are so many kids already alive who need a family.

1) Hell yes I would LOVE to have a cute puppy right now...

2) Jazz and Blues...

3) Yes, as often as possible...

4) What can I say that I already haven't, she was beautiful and perfect and she left me for someone else...

5) I think it is a great thing if the people doing the adopting are kind and caring and loving people.

9. okay, I'll play
1) Definitely an animal person. My friends laugh, because I can't walk by an animal without stopping to say hi. I have two cats, so I guess that makes me a cat person, but I would have a dog if my life let me have enough time for one (and if my cats wouldn't kill him).

2) Favorite music - well, I'm from a theatre family, so as a kid it would be showtunes (I know, I'm weird). Now, I'm pretty eclectic, but mostly rock, I guess.

3) I love to hang out at the coffee shops in bookstores - I'm there pretty often.

4) I'm honestly not sure how to answer this question so I'm going to skip.

5) Who isn't a fan of adoption. I don't know if kids are in my future at all, so I can't comment on if I would ever adopt a child, but both my cats are adoptees, so obviously I'm cool with it. I wasn't really aware that it was something to have a position on.

1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.

I love love love all animals. I am more of a dog person though. I have 2 at the moment. If I ever get lots of land, I will have more.

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?

I am from the MS delta, so I am partial to blues music.

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?

I haven't been able to "hang out" in a while since I have been pregnant, but in the summer my fave hang out is on the water. I love taking a pontoon boat up the river.

4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.

My first love started when I was 15. We dated all through high school. Crazy enough we got married and have been for almost 7 years.

5) How do you feel about adoption.

Adoption is a wonderful thing. It is not for everyone though. So many kids out there need loving homes. I have a biological child, but I wouldn't ever rule out adoption.
I adopted my last 2 dogs and will only adopt my pets in the future.

14. Nutty me, in a nutshell
1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.
Yes, a dog has been in my life for almost all my 57+ years. I really miss them when I'm somewhere else, and seek out animals to be around. Our dog now is Sally the rescued/adopted x2 Border Collie-Heeler.

I've had two cats. The first one approached me near the ticket booth of the Wood's Hole-Nantucket ferry. He was ~3 months old, an adorable tawny tabby, and the ticket lady said he had been hanging around for 2-3 days, hiding in the bushes when the sound of trucks and cars loading onto the ferry scared him. She gave him only water, hoping he'd find his way home. I left my phone number with her, tucked him into the front of my sweater, and took him with me to Nantucket. I called the pound/humane society phone number for that area of Cape Cod but thankfully no one called, and I got to keep him! Mr. Ticket was the best cat.

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?
Folk, and Folk-rock. Weavers, Joan Baez, Dylan, Byrds, Jesse Colin Young/Youngbloods, Van Morrison, Cat Stevens Now, I like reggae, jazz, and classical, a lot, too and a variety of foreign music.

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?
The park as my son was growing up, it has a playground and pool and it takes 1 minute to walk there. He just turned 14 yesterday, and he, my husband and I like to look at all kinds of stuff from museums to junkyards.

4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.
Very first love was my brother's friend. Forty-three years later he's still two of my brothers' friend, and sort of mine, in that we communicate occasionally.
5) How do you feel about adoption.
I have one child. If I found it less difficult to provide for more, I'd adopt.

1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.
Yes. Both. My dog woke me up this morning with a lick to the eyeball. Is that cute enough? :P

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?
Classic rock, actually. Before my time.

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?
Not really. My friends and I tend to hang out at eachother's houses.

4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.
We went to high school together. I was 16 and he was 18. It was great for a while in that puppy love sort of way, but it fizzled out in the way teenage relationships tend to do. :P

5) How do you feel about adoption.
All for it. There are lots of kids out there who need families. I've considered, and more seriously in recent years, that I might adopt instead of having kids of my own.

20. My answers....
1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory. I love pets and have had all kinds. Dogs are my favorites. I have two corgis now and they are the best, smartest, sweetest dogs I have ever owned.

2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth? I still love Motown and soul music.

3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there? Just the mall. A couple of times a month.

4) Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended. It ended badly. I was 15 and he was 19. He was too old for me, mostly. We tried to pick up the pieces when we were older, but we never recaptured the magic of the first time around. Too much happened in between, too many things went wrong. I still think about him though. I tried to find him, but no luck.

5) How do you feel about adoption. I don't have any feelings about it. It's really none of my business!

22. OK I'll play!
1) Do you love pets? Dog person or cat person? Cute stories are mandatory.
CATS all the way. My babycat is so smart she's learned how to turn the dial on the dimmer switch on the kitchen light, and she'll hop on the chair and stand on her hind legs and dim the lights when she wants to take a nap!
2) What is your favorite kind of music, preferably from your youth?
Classic rock. Zeppelin, Clapton, Lou Reed, The Who, The Stones, all that good stuff.
3) Do you have a favorite hangout? And how often do you go there?
My back yard. We're lucky enough to have about 3.3 acres, woodland on a river, so I'm happiest hanging out right here.
4)Describe your first love, and how it continues, or ended.
Beautiful Irishman, split the scene when I got pregnant. We don't see each other much, but there's no animosity when we do. I just feel bad that both he and my daughter missed out on a relationship, and it's too late now...she was killed by a drunk driver 11 years ago, and he'll never get the chance to know her now.
5) How do you feel about adoption.
As an adoptee, and the birth mom of an adopted child, very positive!

23. UPDATE! Thank you for the responses, and especially the good vibes about adoption.
I saw something about adoption several days ago that truly troubled me, and thus why I wanted to get a "pulse" about adoption from others.

Honestly, how could one ever be AGAINST adoption? Giving some child a truly good life, with loving and caring parents? It just truly baffles my mind that anyone would be against that.

Maybe I am just insane. But I think adoption is one of the most altruistic, loving and giving thing that any loving couple could do.

Thanks for listening. I'll get off my soap box now.
