Ladies Only: What's with the carbo load desire
just before my period?

It's like I MUST HAVE bread, pasta, candy, ice cream, in short any sugary short energy thing I can get my hands on!

:wtf:

Typically this has been my diet downfall, trying to not indulge in this stuff during that PMS week, which is now. I've been pretty good this week considering. I limited myself to 1 small loaf of artisan cheese bread spread over the week. But sheez, I'm so fighting the urge to go get either a candy bar or ice cream right now!

:banghead: :grr: :banghead: :grr:

1. Hormones
It's related to increased responsiveness to insulin -- result of increased hormone levels. You're experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar, and your brain is telling you you need fuel. The best thing is to maintain a consistent diet throughout the month that includes complex carbs, and that helps your brain to counter the fluctuations in blood sugar.

Some docs also think it relates to seratonin levels dropping. Increasing exercise -- going for a brisk walk instead of having that candy bar -- can help with that. It boosts your seratonin levels.

4.  I try
I don't do well with wheat products so I try to limit those. I do eat veggies, fruits, and legumes, though.

I do have some blueberries, so I should eat some of those. :bounce: :bounce:

3. I prefer steak and potatoes with lots of butter and salt
to avert homicide. Several of us at work are on the same pill cycle and we have "cow night" every month. Dessert included.

Uncharacteristically, I did have a cow week last month. I wanted every beef product could get my hands on. :P This after months of fish and chicken. :P
