Country Music Lyrics Game
Rules: I'll post a list of 40 lyric snippets. Without Googling, see how many you can identify, including the artist--some of them will have more than one artist possibility, as there were some covers. The songs will range from the early 70's to modern country (or country-pop, as some call it.) All of these are from my own iTunes playlist. :)

Good luck!

1. I wake up with this need again, to feel the love of the woman beside me.

2. In my dreams, I'll always see you soar above the sky.

3. A single-shot rifle and a one-eyed dog.

4. We've reached the point of no return, it's only right I set you free.

5. He had grown old and gray, and his mind was a'wandering.

6. I might have saved a little trouble for the next girl.

7. There's a river made of moonlight, flowing clear across the lake.

8. I fell for you like a child.

9. I still carry her picture, I wish her well with the new love.

10. She hung up when I asked her name.

11. And it's so hard to be a lover when you say you're only in it for fun.

12. I feel you holdin' him, just as tight as me.

13. It won't be long, and maybe I'll be real strong.

14. And hung around the cabaret until the doors were locked.

15. Each day the sun sets into the west, her heart sinks lower in her chest.

16. Cryin' all alone under the stands was the piccolo player in the marching band.

17. I met the man I call my Dad when I was five years old.

18. And they let me hold onto the good times, the good lines.

19. And I remember every time I said I'd never leave.

20. They buried me in that grey tomb that knows no sound.

21. I see you're used to champagne, but I'll buy you a beer.

22. And every now and then, a bridge crosses over. It's a moment that every lover knows.

23. I'm gonna wake up in your arms tomorrow. You're gonna make it the night of my life.

24. It's kinda like noon in the dead of night.

25. Well you always said I had such a pretty face.

26. Your smile is like a breath of spring, your voice is soft like summer rain.

27. And he may still come home, but I live here alone.

28. How's my boy today? I know it's been three weeks.

29. I sold what I could, and packed what I couldn't.

30. You say you want more out of life than he can give you.

31. The one you finally give your heart to, will leave you cryin' in the night.

32. I need you to see me in every light, and hear that you still think I'm beautiful anyway.

33. Forever's in my heart and in my blood.

34. The desert's quiet, Cleveland's cold.

35. People said, "Get a real job. Support your family."

36. He could hear a baby cryin', see the folks as they lay dyin'.

37. I can still see the wind in her golden hair.

38. I get a little sentimental, when I've had one or two.

39. And I saw stars dancing on the water. I heard Elvis singing 'Blue Suede Shoes.'

40. It's a blessing and a curse that love is blind.

2. Trick question!
Those are all from "Regretting What I Said to You When You Called Me at 11 O'Clock Friday Morning to Tell Me that at One O'Clock Friday Afternoon You're Going to Leave Your Office, Go Downstairs, Hail a Cab, to Go Out to the Airport to Catch a Plane to go Skiing in the Alps for Two Weeks — Not that I Wanted to Go With You — I Wasn't Able to Leave Town, I'm Not a Very Good Skier, I Couldn't Expect You to Pay My Way, But After Going Out With You For Three Years, I Don't Like Surprises (A Musical Apology)" by Christine Levine.

4. Sounds like quite a song.
Throw in some references to beer and crying, and it might be a country radio hit!

11. You are correct...
I should have recognized the "Ring of Fire" lyrics, but it's been soooo long since I've heard the song.

Will reapply for coolness after the required waiting period.

14. I think they're all from that famous song:
"My Woman Done Run Off With My Dawg In Mah Pickup Truck, Taking The Gun On The Gun Rack, So I Started Drinkin' Agin And Got Into A Barroom Brawl And Shot A Man Just To Watch Him Die And Now I'm Rotting My Life Away In Prison"

15. Here's my go at it
3: Louisiana Saturday Night--Don Williams and everyone else
6: Next Time He Cheats--Carrie Underwood (Maybe not the exact title)
10: Nobody--Sylvia
11: Queen of Hearts--Juice Newton
14: Tennessee Flat Top Box--Roseanne Cash (and some other Cash)
21: Tight Fittin' Jeans--Conway Twitty
34: The Ballad of Poncho and Lefty--Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, written by Townes Van Zandt (sp?)

And my guesses, because I know the songs but aren't sure:
28: I don't call him Daddy--Doug Supernaw
35: Born to Boogie--Hank Williams, Jr.
36: All the Chapel Bells Were Ringing--forgot the artist

I could get 22 and 30 if I had more time to work on it, but that's all I got.
