The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 12/1/08
Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 07:04 AM by BlueIris
"Your Name"

Years from now
when I read your name
I will feel the flowers of my body's memory
unbend. They will remember
more than your name.
Though my eyes will see but a single word,
whole gardens will be rising at the bidding
of an inner sun unknown to me
blooming from the letters
of your name.
And I will bask as a lily does
after the snow.

3.  Beautiful
The line "feel the flowers of my body's memory unbend" just slays me.

5. When I see names
I remember evenings, and smell wonderful meals. I remember walking, back when I could walk, and sometimes I remember dancing.

I remember the person who made the name real, and I remember who that person was, and I wonder who that person is.

And all of that is in this poem.

I think I might print this one out and keep it.
