How the Hell did I gain 6 Pounds in two weeks?
I have to preface this question by stating that my weight is as stable as the Pyramid of Giza, no matter what I do or eat, usually: 129/130.

So this morning I stepped on the scale for the first time in a couple or three weeks and it's 135.

You're thinking: Holidays. But I didn't do anything for the holidays. I have the same thing to eat nearly every night. Same lunch, same dinner.

The only thing that changed is that I cut back on my exercise last week. I missed three days of walking due to a storm, and two days of weight lifting due to a back injury.

This time of year I'm a bit more sedentar, and the days are shorter so I tend to go to bed earlier.

Is that enough to make my weight go up that much that fast? Sheesh...

1. Obvious questions:
Did you weigh yourself in different clothes/shoes?

Did you use the same scale? Is it accurate?

Are you (there is no way to put this gently) a bit backed up?

4. LOL
Yes, it's the same scale, although it's old. And it is a digital type, so it spells out the number to the exact pound. And I wasn't wearing anything when I weighed myself. I usually weigh myself after yoga/weightlifting and before I take a shower.

2. Calories in vs calories out.
It's just math.

8. Hey LOST!!
It's so great to see you!

How are you doing???

I've been doing yoga for four years, weight lifting for five, and walking for only one year.

But just between friends, it has been colder these past few weeks. I guess I have shortened my walks a bit, and when the weather is bad I don't do them at all.

It makes me nervous to think I have to do four hours of exercise a day to maintain my weight. Yikes.

Hugs to you Lost-in-NJ, you have been in my thoughts. I hope you are doing okay!

7. I read a report recently that stated people eat more than 30%
of their yearly caloric intake between Thanksgiving and New Years. That's 30% in 5 or 6 weeks time.

10. Maybe so, flvegan.
I'll pay closer attention to that, but my family is very splintered right now and we are all doing our own thing, so we have not even been having parties or anything.

After thinking about it, I can think of some ways I might be messing things up. It just shocked me to have that big a difference in such a short time without some obvious catalyst.

Well, even Lance Armstrong said he gains weight during the winter.

11. See your doctor...
Sudden unexplainable weight gain can be a symptom of some cancers.
