Okay, I'm the last person in the world to read "The Da Vinci Code"
I know I may have to :kick: this tomorrow, but jeez, the last book I read that I couldn't put down was "Seabiscuit". I couldn't stop reading "The Da Vinci Code" till it was done. I was up till 2 AM this morning reading, then I woke up before 9:00 AM to finish it!

What did the rest of you think of it? DH hasn't read it yet, so I can't discuss ANY OF IT with him. It's driving me nuts!

I can't wait for the movie!

Julie

p.s. Did anyone go to the website and look for the stuff in the Da Vinci paintings? ;-)

9. That's how I would describe the books - fun
The type you would enjoy when on vacation or whenever you want something light. They have better subject matter than most books like that, more interesting than the usual, I thought.

7. Not Really
Wait for the movie. It's a page turner, but as the literary world goes, pretty cheap sex.

3. A great read ...
Also, check out "Bloodlines of the Holy Grail" by Sir Laurence Gardner. As we learn more about Jesus, he loses the stature of divinity conferred upon him at around 360 A.D., but his stature as a truly remarkable man of God grows thereby.

5. You're not the only one.............
I read it, but there are a host of books that other people tell me are 'must reads' that I haven't read yet.
The DaVinci Code is a great book, although the some might construe the plot line to be mostly fiction. It most certainly is not. There were a few books written before The DaVinci code that actually did most of the footwork Brown used for his novel. 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' and 'The Messianic Legacy" probably being the most extensive works on the subject. I believe Brown borrowed heavily from these works to pen his own. The two aforementioned books read like text books, they're hard to follow and quite intensive in their research. Without these books though, Brown has nothing, in my opinion. I would suggest reading those two as well to see from where the original framework for 'The Davinci Code' was derived, just don't expect anything as riveting.

6. I don't know what it is about it. I couldn't put it down either. The
writing is not the best but the ideas put forth blew me away. :hi:

10. for more discussion
There are at least a couple threads having to do with DaVinci Code in either The Lounge or The Meeting Room. If you want discussion on it, you might want to search out those threads which I recall seeing here sometime last fall or so.

11. No you're not.
From what I've heard about it, I'm not very likely to read it, either.

15. Miss Millie
I'll be joining you!

I never read "LOTR" in school, and we haven't seen any of the movies. Our friends (huge LOTR junkies,) keep trying to talk to us about the movies and get a blank stare.

Hopefully, I'll get as much enjoyment out of LOTR as I did from the "Da Vinci Code."

Julie

p.s. They're making a movie, too. Hmmm.
