I'm having an MRI of my brain this morning....
Let's play "What'll they find in there?" I'm thinking cartoon characters; probably Bugs Bunny.

3. I had one of those a while back.
The frame for keeping your head still is kinda weird, but you get used to it after a minute or so. Make sure you get your shoulders comfortable in the tunnel--it's okay to let them rest on the tunnel walls, it won't hurt the imaging or hurt you. It'll be loud, so make sure they give you earplugs. Keep your eyes closed, and play a game with yourself in your head if you don't have music or something to listen to; I spent my time pretending that the thumping sound was a rock concert, and I was watching from the crowd. :)

Good luck!

4. I've had about ten brain MRIs
They've improved them a lot since I began having them in the 1990s; they used to take an hour, now it's more like 35 minutes. If you're claustrophobic, make sure you let them know and make sure they make it so you can see out. I usually doze during mine.

They aren't as loud as they used to be either but they're still kind of noisy. And if you're getting dye, beware; it can make you kind of woozy.

On the plus side, as I tell people, there is now photographic evidence that I actually HAVE a brain. How many people can say that?

Good luck! I hope whatever it is is nothing serious and something that's easily remedied.

5. Id like some wallet-size pictures....
And maybe some 5 by 7's to give to relatives. There's nothing that says "I'm thinking of you" like a picture of your brain.

10. I had a relatively stress-free MRI!

They asked me if I was claustrophobic and I said "Oh yes". Then they asked me if I wanted a sedative and I said "Two, please".

11. Did you get a panic button?
I did. Had a shoulder MRI last year. I just closed my eyes. It was weird.

Glad it's all over for you. :hi:

12. Yup. Panic button was at my fingertips.

The thing I wasn't expecting was that "cage" they put your head in. It was alot like the one Hannibal Lecter wore, but it was hard plastic. The injection was also surprisingly painful. (Not the injection itself, but the area of the injection really hurt for about 30 minutes).

Thank you for thinking of me! (I wonder if I can post a picture of my brain once they get the results--then you'll be able to read my thoughts)!

13. Oh my
I escaped the cage and the injection. :scared: Mine was just to dx a bone spur for arthroscopic surgery. Had that done in April. All went well :bounce:

But I too have terrible claustrophobia, when they slid me halfway into that tunnel, I just gripped the panic button and started the slow breathing. Even though I had headphones on, I could hear the clunking and the weird noises.

No open MRIs here that I know if...

Glad you are finished with that!! Good luck with your results.
