Why would anyone bother to do that? The person really IS a douchebag, if he/she thinks your Mom would care. I posted "welcome to ignore" (in a thread -- not a PM) a couple of times not long ago, and I regret even doing that. When I thought about it afterwards, it was like, "Why do I think they would give a flying fart? If they posted something to me that I found obnoxious, they clearly already think I'm a dork. Why would I think they'd care if I'm ignoring them?" Ego. Silly ego.

Plus, the whole "telling them off" thing: I'm so over it. I play in DU to play, and to kill time. Not to argue with people I will never meet, who have no relevance in my life, nor I in theirs.

I knew it would drive him shithouse and it had the exact effect I was looking for. He went off on me all through GD-P for days. :rofl:

I unblocked him the next day, as I had planned all along.. I just wanted to piss him off and I knew that would work. I didn't write my PM intending to do it, it just occurred to me as I was writing it that I could really get under someone's skin that way. And as a complete bastard, I felt that option was my duty.

I've only used them to write to people on DU that I have care and concern for, or write something to a poster that I didn't think they'd want seen in the public view (asking about health, or bad moods, etc). I wouldn't have thought they'd be used for the opposite purpose.

But then again, why wouldn't they? There are some pretty vile people out there (and out here too, I guess) who appear to posses a need to allow others a taste of their bile.

Only once have I allowed myself to get angry at a poster (frustration is a different matter altogether, I've allowed myself to get frustrated quite often, but that's neither here nor there) -- and when that did happen, I simply logged off DU and threw a movie in the old DVD player
