7. I've heard of a couple of slightly lower-key approaches

a former associate who played the sax responded to a robocall by taking one that was way out of tune and blowing a long, sour note into the mouthpiece. Alas, he was too much of a wuss to do that to a live caller. (I asked. :evilgrin: )

Another former associate, this one in the disabilities field, responded to the call with perfect politeness -- while impersonating someone with a speech impediment. :evilgrin:

8. If you don't need to use the phone

Just say "Hang on, there's someone at the door". Then put the phone down and leave it for three hours. I last used this one when the Republican party called to urge me to vote for their candidate.

If you do need to use it, just say "No thanks. I'm not interested", and hang up.

Or get Caller ID. If I don't recognize the number, I let the machine get it. "Delete" is a wonderful invention.

No need to fly off the handle. There are too many real problems in the world that need attention.

Good God! I had some crazy assed people on the phone when I used to work at a call center, but never anything like that. She would have easily jumped to the #1 spot in something I called "The 3 AM file" (use your imagination, and it has nothing to do with Hillary)

I'm mean to telemarketers too, depending on why they're calling. I usually just say 'you shouldn't even have my number' and hang up the phone. But really, I used to try to go unlisted and my one phone company that I dumped for the other phone company put my whole name in the phone book for revenge.

So I'm not THAT mean to them, considering they had no way of knowing I'm 'unlisted.'

The woman was obviously checking how long it would take her to make him hang up on her. I think she won!
