I'm stuck in Dulles. Screw United. Fuck Dulles.
It'a always something at this asshole "go through security, wait for a tram, get on a tram, go to a different terminal, walk a half a mile, etc." fucking airport of hell.

A 7:30 am west coast flight delayed by 90 minutes for some "crew change" issue, and I miss my connecting flight by 5 minutes.

Here I am in my least favorite airport for five fucking hours.

And I don't drink, but I do smoke. It it was the other way around I'd be in heaven.

Any suggestions?

PS, I don't have any weapons, they screen for everything these days, so suicide is out of the question.

1. When I lived in DC, I HATED Dulles, but loved, loved, loved National.
You have my complete sympathy.

Thanks for the smile--still sitting in the smoking cubicle near C38...

At least they have that here.

Best airport? KONA! It's mostly outdoors and in Hawaii, can't beat that.

That's enough time to pop out and chain smoke for awhile.

14. Yep, any longer and I'd have rented a car to get to Roanoke, final destination.
Any less, no problem, no flight til tomorrow, easy to decide to drive, but 5 hours was right in the middle.

Rat bastards.

7. Grin and bear it
Hope you have a good book and that you don't have to walk a mile just to have s smoke. I got stranded for several hours in Anchorage last time I flew, far better than Dulles but killing time in any airports is the pits.

8. It could be worse - I once got stuck at DFW overnight.
Thunderstorm shut down the whole airport - my flight wound up sitting on the tarmac at Abeleine, Texas for more than four hours. And we couldn't get off the plane or anything. THAT is fucking airline hell.

9. I came up with a great idea.
I'm assuming you have your have your lap top, you could go over to the Executive area, I think it's called Signature(walk out of Dulles and look right) and write down the tail numbers for all the private planes. There should be some cool ones at Dulles. Plug them into this and it will tell you who owns the plane and where the plane has been:

17. Thanks!...I'll remember that for future timekilling needs at airports.
:toast:

Once in San Diego I was staying at a place at a harbor where a huge lot was docked with a helicopter on top.

couldn't track down the yacht owner, but did find the helicopter owner...

18. Airports can be sources of great entertainment, kind of like zoos.
I can't think of a better place for people-watching. Since I always fly standby I get stuck in airports a lot, so I always make sure I have a book. And when I'm not reading I'm amusing myself watching all the funny people...

19. Yeah, that weird tram setup they have totally sucks.
When I used to live out that way, Dulles was a lot more convenient to get to then either BWI or National, so I preferred to go through it (or pick up friends and family there), but otherwise both of those other airports are much better.

20. Suggestions? Fly BWI. Baltimore's gates are directly connected to the terminal.
Plus it's named after a liberal.

23. Final destination: roanoke.
Should have gotten a car and driven myself from dulles.

BWI is the wrong side of Dulles, but I'd rather BE in Baltimore...
