Posting pics: looking for the simplest, easiest process.

I am embarrassed to say that I'm still befuddled about posting images (of my own. I think I get the idea of how it works if I wanted to post something from another site). It seems more confusing to me than I get the sense it is for other people.

I'm looking for feedback from those who do post photos, including any tips/hints you can share that you've discovered that work...

Are you happy with the image hosting site you use? Have you used others in the past that you didn't like as much?

Do you have a certain method that works best for you?

What are some things/sites/mistakes to avoid, if any?

I don't know why I have a mental block with this, but I'd love to contribute now and then but I'm thoroughly intimidated. I've tried it before, but it wasn't a pretty sight...

Thanks for any help and/or advice (and yes, you can snicker at my ineptitude - even laugh...)

1. My dear sohndrsmith!
Trust me when I tell you that I had so much trouble learning how to use Photobucket, that my girlfriend had to call me to tell me how to do it!

Now, it's easy...

So, please don't worry about your so-called ineptitude. I've been there and done that, and really a lot!

I do like Photobucket.

I've never used any others, though. I know they exist...

Would you like me to post the complete instructions?

It would take me some minutes, but I would be happy to do it...

:hi:

12. you're so sweet! Thank you... no I'm certainly not expecting anyone
to post detailed instructions. Tips or a specific method/site etc. to point me in a better direction was the general idea of my plea.

Thank you for the offer, though. The fact that I'm not the only one on the planet confused by the whole process is oddly heartening.

Appreciate the site recommendation, too.

If I could give you a gold star, I would : ).

(If I can manage to get some bloody photos uploaded, then I'll post one for you!)

2. Tape the picture to your monitor...
Then snap a picture of your monitor with your digital camera.

Get the picture developed at CVS.

Send the hard copy picture to Skinner, with an note that asks him to post it under your name.

5. That's true!
However, there's no need to make it worse!

I'm pretty good tonight!

BOTH of my computers were acting up, so this afternoon, I called my computer guy and he said bring 'em in, and I did...

And he fixed both my laptop and my desktop!

I am much happier now!

How're you doing, sweetie?

7. I'm doing alright thank you Peggy...
In much pain tonight...trying to subdue it a bit with a small alcohol buzz.

Other than that, it seems that everyone around me is sick with cancer...but I'm personally doing OK...comparitively.

17. thanks so much for the link - what a useful site. It's a
photobucket satellite, looks like.

I like simplicity, and it likes me - or at least it makes things workable. Thanks again.

now, philboy, on the other hand... (wink) I'll enjoy the chance at a good retort in kind (if I ever find myself clever enough and in the right place at the right time - no, I'm only joking - I love what you wrote. It made me laugh out loud, and that's always fun.

I really do love this site...

much appreciated...

8. We use photobucket and like it.
Do you have a mac or a PC? The details of the instructions would be slightly different.
My son said flickr is better if you have sets of photos that you want to group together.

13. pc, currently...
I don't know about posting groups of photos - wouldn't that be sort of insulting to the bandwidth of this site?

Which leads me to another question: obviously, we are able to post images within our posts/comments here, but is that something that should be discouraged or kept to a minimum? I looked over the place for a DU "site" discussion, but apparently, everyone knows what's going on already except me. I must've been absent that day.

Thanks for the input. I looked into flickr quite a while ago, and the registration process seemed intense and it didn't work - it was connected to yahoo or something. I don't remember exactly. That was a long time ago, though. I'll look again.

: )

15. Don't worry about the use of bandwidth!
Many people, myself included, have posted huge threads with many pics...

I've seen pic threads recently in GD-P where up to 70 pictures have been posted!

Post as many as you like!

There are no limits...

For people who are on dial-up, it's courteous to say something along the lines of "pic heavy" in the subject line of your thread, just to let them know it'll take awhile to load...

Have fun, and feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!

9. Hi,
It's not as difficult as it seems. Pics must be located on the web, you can't post from your PC to DU, for example.
I have a website (shameless promotion) that I post my art on.
To make one of the pieces (now made into jpegs) I go to the website,
copy the url of the pic location and come back here and paste it in!
Like this.........
