1. I saw something interesting in the news the other day about that
Edited on Sat Dec-13-08 02:19 AM by Droopy
It turns out that the police are developing a different way of handling those who choose to run away from them. They are going to put a little gun sort of thing on the front exterior of their cop cars. It will be loaded with a GPS beacon. When someone tries to outrun them, they can launch this little beacon dealio and it will stick to the perp's car and they will be able to follow the car through GPS. It will be safer for the public and the cops and they won't tear up near as much property.

2. That sounds really neat.
I hear they can also use the built in services like On Star to override the accelerators on cars now.

12. I think it's called a Carpoon
Sharp metal spear that pierces your car's sheetmetal.

This guy has an idea that it could have a smoke grenade on it or a screaming siren as well so the car is easy to track. Never any doubt about which car is the perps!

4. Seriously.
Not a week goes by that an entire newscast is completely overrun by a "high speed" police chase. What kills me, is people trying to evade police is not really news.

9. No helicopters?
Maybe that's it. No live shots for the anchors to get worked up into a lather about!

11. My dear krispos42!
Now, I haven't seen one of these chases in a while, so maybe they're doing them differently...

But the ones I saw always had helicopters.

It's quite dramatic too!

:hi:
