My date went well

For those who didn't catch my other thread about this, I was supposed to meet with a woman at 6 Saturday evening for a date that I was really looking forward to. I work third shift so I'm accustomed to sleeping during the day. My alarm clock didn't wake me up because I had accidentally hit a button on it that I shouldn't have and I overslept and missed the date. I called her as soon as I could and after a short, pissy conversation and then an apologetic e-mail I was able to make plans to go out with her this morning for coffee.

I met this woman online at a dating site. What I've been running into with that is that people aren't always honest about their appearance. They tend to be either heavier and/or older looking than their pics. My pics are accurate. I'm 5'10" 260 and 36 years old. I look young for my age, but I really do look like my pics and what you see in my profile on the dating site is what you get. This woman didn't have any pics in her profile that showed her whole body- just from her chest up. I knew what that probably meant and it turned out to be the case. But being the big guy that I am, I'm ok with plus sized women. I'd probably be okay with them if I was a skinny dude, but I wouldn't know for sure. I've been big my whole life. I see a lot of women who don't put up full body pics on the dating site. I understand why, but if they do put up the pics they are much more likely to attract a guy like me who is okay with that sort of thing. Just a little tip from Droopy the Love Doctor. ;)

I talked to this woman on the phone for a week before I met her this morning. On the phone she was smart, liberal, confident, honest, and kind. I got the exact same person in the diner. She's cute, too. :) We talked for 2 hours and only had one awkward moment of silence. We are going to go out again some time soon. She's the first person I've met since I've been looking for a mate that I'm going out on a second date with. I've been looking since February and boy do I have some dating horror stories. :) Not this time, though. I feel like I have at least made a new friend. We'll see where it goes from there.

Most women I respect would forgive a lapse like that, as long as you were honest about it. Hell, we're human too, and I think most of us have slept through an alarm at some time when we were totally exhausted. It's not like you went out partying and completely forgot about her. Oh, and a conciliatory box of gourmet chocolate goes a long way, too.
