DU artistic types. I need a logo and could probably pay too
My cousin is searching for a unique logo for his new pizza buffet restaurant.

I like these, but he needs something that he could copyright. Fwiw, he has a round, chubby face that could be used in the logo. His new restaurant has blank walls and NEEDS some artwork.

Please bookmark and reply or PM if you'd be interested in trying this out.

1. Does it have a name?
It's easier to design a logo to match a name than design one blind that happens to complement the name.

If he doesn't have a name yet...does that mean we have carte blanche to conceptualize that as well?

2. I'd be willing to give it a shot.
I'll reiterate Chan's question. PM me any details.

3. "Probably pay"?
Did he say that to the guy who delivered the menus, the signs, or the food?

If he wants art for the walls, that is a different matter; he can easily post on Craigslist that he has wall space where artists can hang and sell their art. He can even take a cut from those sales. But designers are workers, and workers should be paid for their labor.

5. I couldnt pay everyone who submitts a sketch, but if something good worked out...
I'm sure that payment would be arranged. I know that "artists are people too" and worthy of payment.

We have two art school students on staff and hopefully they'll do the artwork on the wall as soon as I can come up with a plan.

6. Sorry, there's still a disconnect
between "I can't pay everyone who submits a sketch" and "I know ... artists are ... worthy of payment."

This is the wrong and backwards way of going about hiring a designer and buying a logo. Why not ask to see portfolios, choose one designer, and pay for their sample sketches? Then you're only paying one person, and paying for work they have performed for you.

And be prepared for student-level work on those walls, instead of professional-level art. It's just not going to look as good.
