I went on a date last night.
Don't get you knickers in a swirl, it was with Miz t.
I've had the Christmas virus for over a week.
Just feeling crappy and coughing and wheezing.

Last evening at sundown Miz t' said "Come on. I want you to see the Christmas lights."
"It's four days after Christmas."
"The lights are still up. Come on."

I fixed a fresh Scotch and she bundled me into the car.
Took me on a nice drive through the three nearby neighborhoods.
I enjoyed the light displays.
Even the tacky ones.
;-)

At one point she looked at me and said "This is a date."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"So this counts as us actually 'going out'? Really?"
"It does."
I don't like to go out much.
I prefer gatherings at our house or in the neighborhood.
Something I can enjoy with friends at home or 5 minutes away.

So...I get points for an actual 'going out' and I didn't even have to get out of the car.
Cool.
:-)

Aw, good for you......and Miz t!

Sounds like a good time all around...

2. My favorite date is when I don't have to leave the living room.
I'm SUCH a stick-in-the-mud.
;-)

4. Not to get all glurgey here, but...
Sometimes I call her Saint Helen.
When we were in our 30s, with a 3 year old daughter, she let me bring my great aunt to live with us.
Let? She insisted.
"It's the right thing for us to do."

Many years later, her mother lived with us until her death in her 80s.
And it was cool.
It was OK.
It was what we wanted.

Through thick and thin, good times and bad, and there have been some bad times (financially), she's been my rock.

I do love this woman.
Forty years with her next April.

And I'll never forget the day.
