About the "anti-Hollywood" jackass that was just on the Daily Show...
One of the books he co-authored:

7. Thank you for posting that.
Until this evening I had never even heard of the book and after watching that ass clown author... ugh! As soon as he brought up Drudge I knew he was a :puke:, thankfully John got a few digs in.

4. Was Harry Knowles on?
He's VERY Liberal. He's been ranting about Bush for quite some time now. Or is it one of the co-authors?

Knowles has even been pushing the Venezuela is trying to be taken over by the Bushies documentary. He's one of the good guys.

5. No, Knowles wasn't on the show
I'm familiar with Harry's politics, that's great -- but he's also quite a dumbass. Can't write to save his life.

6. I won't disagree
I was just worried that people had pegged Harry's politics the wrong way.

:-)

8. I assume you're talking about Ebner?
In defense of the author--who happens to be a very, very good friend of mine--let me assure you that, while he takes perverse delight in being a jackass (which is mostly an act--mostly :-) ), he is in no way a wingnut. I'm in LA, and I haven't seen him on TDS yet, so I'm not sure what he said that so angered you. He's pretty much an equal opportunity offender, so I'm sure he probably pissed off a lot of people.

Mark's a good guy--he's endured a great deal of harassment from the $cientologists for his various expose pieces on them (You can find his Spy magazine piece at http://www.drasticmedia.com/Scientology.html ), and never stops hammering them. I admire the hell out of that.

9. Fine
But the guy is eating his own shit if he bashes Hollywood, and Jon completely called him on it.

He and Stewart are old friends, so I think they're probably having great fun with this--I'll wait and see when I watch it in about an hour, but I'm really curious now. I'm not really clear on what bugs you so much--is it just that he's doing a little muckraking?

Hollywood's a very cannibalistic town, so if he can make a buck doing that, then bully for him. He's already been chewed up and spit out a few times over the years by this town (and survived); he's an interesting person, and the jackass part is mostly surface. When I said he's a good guy, I'm speaking from direct personal experience. But then again, I'm also accustomed to his schtick, so I'm less likely than the average viewer to be shocked by the shit he talks. 8 or 9 years ago, I was at the stage where I found him as annoying as you apparently did tonight, so I do emphathize. ;-)

on edit: His book on Knowles (Mark pitched & sold the book, and then ghost wrote for Knowles) is a direct result of his being really, really fed up with the Hollywood heierarchy. He recognized years ago the democratic aspect of Harry's website, and helped Harry out a LOT over the years (which I think Harry notes in the book--I've got an advance copy, which doesn't have the acknowledgements in it).
