4. open the picture in paint
and resize it and then save it in .jpg format.

I am not sure of the specifics as I am on a mac, but that should be the basics.

6. Well, when I resize it, it makes me do it by centimeters or pixel
count. I'd like to just shrink it down a little while keeping the original proportions, and I'm not sure how to do that.

3. If it's a jpeg, there really isn't much room left to compress it
Edited on Sat Jan-03-09 08:02 PM by nomad1776
although you could make it smaller or reduce the resolution. If you have a graphics program, you could increase the jpg compression, but that will usually degrade the image.

7. Upload it to a free photobucket account, resize it, save it to your PC.
If all else fails, that should work.

Or, if you are looking at the image and screen capture your view and save it, that should be under 4 MB.

right click on it and hover over 'send to' til it gives you a list and find compressed (zipped) folder

9. Irfanview will do most anything with a picture.

Make it bigger, make it smaller, rotate it, flip it, fix the colors, change the format...

10. Do you have some sort of photo editor?
I've found that when I crop just a little bit off the pic and save it as a different file name (not file type, just file name...so you can keep your original in all its glory) it reduces the file size considerably...just don't ask me why. :D

16. I just thought about it. I tell people any file under 5 MB is usually going to pass through any
email system. So just email it.
