Watching Serenity on the SciFi Channel...
I forgot the intro was so progressive!

Great show and series that will be missed.

I knitted my BIL a Jayne hat for Christmas last year.

4. I taught myself to knit, just so I could. It was a lot of fun.
God, that show just rocked. The movie didn't rock quite as hard, but...awesome all around.

8. It's the sweetest hat ever...
...and very easy to knit. Seriously, I taught myself, and the first project I made was this hat.

10. Here's the pattern I used, with some modification.
I thought her photo looked a little tight on her head (and the colors are ALL WRONG). I tend to knit tight, too, so I cast on 80 stitches rather than the 54 she recommends.

I learned to knit with the booklet called "I Can't Believe I'm Knitting!" I know, the title's hilarious.

Good luck to you!

11. I think I put that one away when I was reshelving stuff at my store today.

:P

Also, I'll either need stretchy yarn, or I'll need to make it slightly bigger somehow. 'cause I have a very large head.

12. Wool stretches. And modify it like I did, or even go up a "size."
Once you cast on your stitches, you don't need to worry about sizing -- just keep knitting (on this pattern).

16. Was there only the one season? That's all they have.
I loved the movie but I admit I completely missed the series.

15. Inara is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.
I loved the love between her and Mal which never had a chance to fully blossom or really blossom at all. The fact that those two loved each other was about the worst kept secret of the show.

14. Firefly and Serenity are some of my all time favorites.
I have all of the dvds and have watched them all and the commentaries numerous times. I never saw Firefly when it was on FOX. It's such a shame that we could not have seen more and there did seem to be such a bond between the cast members.

17. Spot on.
They were one of the better ensemble casts out there.

Joss Whedon did a helluva job with the series. See Dr. Horribles Sing along Blog!

19. IMO the film was excellent, and I haven't seen even 10 seconds of the series
In fact, I almost wish that the series didn't exist, because it would mean that we had one of those tremendously rare things in modern science fiction: a high-quality, self-contained, stand-alone film. And a lot of hyphens, to boot!

Before seeing the film I knew absolutely nothing about the Firefly universe or characters, but I caught on pretty quickly. Not that the concepts were particularly elusive, but the flim provided enough backstory for even a newbie to come along for the ride without missing anything.

I especially liked the Operative, and his awareness that he was tasked with ensuring his on obsolescence.

Great fun!
