Anyone up for some Obamagang (Inauguration ale) in suburban Chicago?
Edited on Thu Jan-29-09 07:32 PM by scubadude
This one is an event at Brixie's in Brookfield. They have an incredible group of microbreweries showcasing their best beers this Saturday between 4 and 7PM.

Over 50 craft and imported beers will be sampled. Representatives include Dogfish Head, Lagunitas, Southern Tier, Unibroue, 2 Brothers, Sierra Nevada, Bells, Goose Island, New Belgium and more.

Right now Brixie's is serving Surly Darkness, which was an extremely limited 25 barrel production, on tap. If you like very dark sweet stouts this is one is rated 12th best beer in the world.

Oh yeah, Obamagang? That is an informal name for brewery Ommegang's Inauguration Ale 2009, which I personally vouch for! Let's put it this way, Obamagang got my vote!!!

The cost $10 at the door, but it will be worth it. Besides the breweries represented, Brixie's has 29 micro-brews on tap. Surely one of Chicago's largest on tap selections.

Hope to see you there. If you do come, make sure to talk to the guy in the Obama tee, that's me. My wife will be present too. We were one of the first DU inspired across country marriages.

Hope you can make it,
Scuba

1. shit, I wish I was in Chicago now!!
That sounds amazing. Lots of my favourite breweries. I only recently found out about Ommegang, and now they're one of my favourites - their Flemish red/sour ale is amazing.

I remember that the hop leaf and sheffields both had amazing beer selections.
