2. THE AGGROLITES!
These guys are the best touring band in America right now. If anyone ever gets a chance to see these guys live, do it. They'll rock your world with a mix of Otis Redding meets Lee Perry.

3. Pretty funky
Best touring band? I think Phish has something to say about that.
But they do have that funky sound I love so much......Where they from?

4. Phish? Aren't they on their second or third 'last tour ever'?
Anyhow, The Aggrolites are from Los Angeles. I was lucky enough to see them the first night they ever played together in the back of a coffee shop in Carson somewhere around 2001. I was an instant fan. With my bands, I've opened for them probably 4 or 5 times and they have become local hits in San Diego. Their audience and reach has been steadily growing since then. They also arranged and were the house band for Tim Armstrong's (of Rancid) solo release.

And, they're genuinely nice guys (though one is a fundie and a half).

6. What were you doing in Carson?
(I went to school there for a couple of semesters, just interested.)

7. For the show
Here's how it went down. Derrick Morgan, one of Ska and Reggae's godfathers, was rumored to be in Los Angeles. He threw a secret show at some coffeeshop (the bluebird cafe?). There was maybe 200 people there, at most. Anyhow, The Aggrolites were put together from members of 2 or 3 bands and they backed Derrick. Prior to Derrick making his appearance, the ensemble did about 5 or 6 instrumentals from the Skinhead Reggae era. It was as close to perfection for the genre as I've ever witnessed live. That night they decided to forge forth as a functioning band.

By the way, Derrick Morgan killed it.

9. Paul McCartney is fuckin' awesome live.
So is TV On The Radio. And the Black Keys (I caught their set at Coachella 2 years ago when they were on one of the small side stages).

Not a big fan of The Cure or The Killers, and Amy Winehouse would certainly be fun to watch.

10. Do I need to get my eyes checked, or...
Is that Public Enemy and Perry Farrell listed in tiny little letters beneath the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Throbbing Gristle up there in 16 font?

and Amy Winehouse should be... interesting.

12. I guess that depends on whether he's going to play JA/PFP stuff
if its just his post Janes/Porno whatever, then I guess these other crap bands are just as good.

14. I hope you did not just call MBV and TG crap bands
I can say that, having seen both JA and MBV in their primes in the early 90s, My Bloody Valentine makes Jane's Addiction look like Loverboy by comparison. :)

Last I checked he was a graphic design artist? The Obama guy? Or perhaps he is also a musician?

17. Nice lineup, but
I'd still rather go to Bonnaroo or Lollapalooza. You can hear most of the same bands but don't have to put up with as many California douchebags.

19. Dealing with CA dbags is always worth the superior lineups Coachella has
Anyhow this is a prelim lineup, Winehouse would have to be allowed into the US, and they will be adding even more bands (especially to the dance tent).

Also Goldenvoice is offering a layaway program for the ticket packages.

23. layaway is nice.
I wouldn't call the lineup superior. The top headline acts aren't too impressive. Most of the bands I'd like to see on that list I've already seen at Lolla or Bonnaroo in the last two years.

28. it's a prelim lineup
The final Coachella lineups have always been better than Lolla and Bonnaroo.
